The Vancouver Liberals stand for protecting our natural environment, and we will bring in smart, targeted policies to reduce our environmental footprint.
Shockingly, Vancouver has the lowest rate of beverage container recycling in the region at 51%. This is unacceptable for a city so connected to our natural environment. Here's my plan to fix it!

“Critics have likened Jack the Ripper’s approach to the mass murder of women, while others have chalked it up to the cost of women existing at night in Whitechapel.”

Media in the United States is completely broken.

A crime is a crime. A criminal is a criminal. Media cowardice is media cowardice.
How did the @nytimes.com editors let this sentence appear?

"Critics have likened Mr. Trump’s approach to extortion, while others have chalked it up as a cost of doing business with this administration."

We must stop allowing criminals to prey on the most vulnerable in our society, and cut out the root of what is fueling our toxic drug crisis.

See Kareem Allam's three policy items to combat money laundering here in the city of Vancouver.
Criminals wreaking havoc on our streets shouldn't be able to get rich. Time to choke their profits and shut the door on money laundering.

My thoughts on overruns at the PNE Amphitheater: “At the local level, Allam says that if he and his new party, the Vancouver Liberals, win next October’s election, they will establish project oversight boards to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.” vancouversun.com/opinion/colu...
Who's accountable for the PNE Amphitheatre's budget overrun? Seemingly, no one
Cost overruns on PNE Amphitheatre show the need for an overhaul in how the city manages big capital projects, a political candidate says.

Ken Sim and ABC spend millions supporting events that working families, seniors, and students can’t afford to attend—while free events like the Celebration of Light get cut.

Then he raises fees, offloads rodent control, and jacks up parking and access fees to community centres and parks.
Today, Kareem Allam spoke with @simisara730CKNW about:

❌ The end of The Celebration of Light
❌ Rat infestations in Vancouver
❌ Ken’s budget cuts and how they hurt families.

This is not a tax cut but a tax shift. User fees are regressive, meaning the poorest pay the greatest portion of their income for services. While not perfect, property taxes are more progressive. This is an attack that shifts the cost burden from one end of the income spectrum to the other.

Turns out, austerity means we can’t have nice things
You can like or dislike fireworks, enjoy the post-show exodus from downtown or abhor the crowds, but the Celebration of Light is probably the biggest event that celebrates Vancouver's Vancouverness.

Traditions die, but this one hits bigger than most.

Congratulations to @brennanbastyo.bsky.social for bringing forward the motion to secure additional funding to prevent community centre fee increases in the harmful Zero Means Zero budget.

The Park Board approved this motion the night before without support from the ABC Commissioners.
Today Council unanimously supported my amendment in today’s budget deliberations. We’ve reallocated $800,000 from the City’s existing budget to make sure Community Centre recreation fees stay at 0% increase in 2026. This means admission, passes, lessons, programs, and permits remain affordable.

Take a moment to watch this video. I like these ideas and I’d love to hear what you think in the replies.

Putting a focus on artists and food banks is long overdue. But, what will truly resonate is helping bring and retain health providers in our city.

@cbcstephenquinn.bsky.social, has Mayor Ken Sim gotten his staff to get him the answers yet? It’s been a day or two now. And honestly—why does he need someone else to do this in the first place?

Ken Sim’s “Zero Means Zero” budget is reckless austerity dressed as leadership. It guts services while hiding the real impacts.
At City Hall, not one of the seven Park Board Commissioner spoke in support because they know these cuts will damage community centres, parks, and programs across Vancouver
