Publishers in the UK don't half like whinging. Yes, times are tight. The systems of the industry have changed. Stop sloughing your budgets into bad art and box-ticking. Crack on.

Krasznahorkai, not as good as he thinks he is. Wears his politics on his sleeve a bit too much in his novels. But, ya know, Sátántangó and The Melancholy of Resistance... decent. His screenplays, excellent.

Dispiriting & amusing to see a novel we passed on over two years ago (dull and poorly written in the main) feted by a publishing house we respected & now garnering rave reviews in the States.

Similar happened with an abysmal poetry collection we were sent. Won one of the top awards a few years back

I. God's Fox being readied at Digbeth Art Space, Birmingham... 14th Nov

II. Poster: GF in Berlin... Venue ripped us off, lawyers became involved.

III. Nico at The White Hotel, publication launch, Salford... a scummer attempted to sell postcards of a photo he'd taken of that poster.

Yet another run-in tonight with associates (a complete stranger this time) of an author that bad mouthed us all over town for the best part of a year—out of drug glutton induced paranoia.

The Manchester scene (one for the lolz) awash with the fawning, gullible, non-bright & hateful, who knew?

Regardless of yesterday's #NationalPoetryDay, today is always Poets' Day in the industry... Piss off early tomorrow's Saturday.

In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.

A searchable works list has been released to identify the authors’ works that were stolen by US Corporation Anthropic, to train its AI models. It includes UK authors whose works were copied without their permission or payment.

Someone as bright and coherent an author as Iain McGilchrist shilling for the far-right bozo cult. Regurgitating their same old tired, lunatic drivel. Hapless
