Same data processed to reduce stars. Can’t decide which version I like more. Both have some aspects that are better than the other.

Horse head and flame nebulae around the star Alnitak in Orion. This is one of my favorite objects that I image every year.

I was shooting this last night and it clouded over. Glad I waited patiently for about 30 minutes, and it got clear again. Can’t wait to process this and other images later today.

It is 2 days after the exact time of opposition but, Jupiter is quite bright in the sky tonight. Here it is with its moons - Ganymede, Io, Europa and Callisto.

Comet Tshuchinsan and the Milky Way from Oct 2024. Would have been nicer if there was no light pollution.

I have bought the annual pass every year for at least a decade. I think I’ll skip it this year.

Added 3 more hours of subs on California nebula. It seemed to reduce noise and bring out more details of the nebula. That’s what one would expect with longer exposure.

I am old enough to remember when killing any humans was bad. Then somehow it became OK to kill foreigners. Now, it is fair game to kill your fellow citizen if they disagree with you.

Holidays are over. Time to get back to reality and work. I swear I could happily get used to the daily schedule of holidays… forever. It will not be a problem at all.

Finally a special mention for this photo that was in the making for half of 2025. A six month long exposure from Summer to Winter solstice using a pinhole camera tracking the movement of Sun in the sky!
