"White people should learn to respect those unlike themselves" is not untrue, but the real root is that our centuries-old systemic racism is something we purchased at the cost of self-love. I think MAGA, at its heart, is about unaddressed and unresolved self-loathing more than anything else.

MAGA is the latest chapter in a long history of white people being lazy and stupid, being unwilling to think deeply about what it would mean for us to live authentic human lives grounded in real self-respect rather than in the fictitious self-regard that our racism gives us.

I wish this video clip were longer. "White people are afraid of Black people" is something white people need to explore and understand. Human beings naturally dread other humans whom they have wronged. The injurious are prone to fear.

But the harm is real. Creating a system that unfairly benefits us, that gives us unearned advantages, has collectively made us weak, slow-witted, unimaginative, anxious, shallow and easily manipulated.

We created this; we're the ones that have to fix it.

One of the many things we white folks just won't come to terms with is how our racism harms us, psychologically & spiritually. Yes, we benefit from it materially; no, no one should feel sorry for us for the harm we have chosen to inflict on ourselves, generation after generation.

Thing is, so many white people are so soft & weak that they think having their feelings hurt is just as bad as redlining, minimizing/denial of Black pain in healthcare, racial profiling in policing, etc., etc.

I had a similar experience reading "What Happened". My process was essentially: read a few pages, stop, scream and curse, resume reading. Tough going.

I haven't even ordered my 107 yet... I'm sure that when I do, reading it will be rewarding and also very painful.
