I didn't even have time to get into the weirdly deep folk horror trigger of the second track
"Is it a kind of dream?"
and the generation specific trauma it calls up.
I think if you know it doesn't need explaining and if you don't it maybe can't be.
It's such a sharp honed little sliver though.

Review | U - Archenfield by @ouchmonkey.bsky.social

"Folklore, weird histories and superstition threaded through uneasy compositions of piano loops, vinyl hiss and odd drones."

People. They mostly mean well bless 'em but they are MORONS aren't they?
I'm not excluding myself from this observation.
I might exclude myself from being around people though

Listening to Nomeansno is always a good idea. I know, slightly tenuous on the spooky but... Zombies!

Tenth anniversary made a lot more sense when bands put out an album a year and five years between releases seemed eternity. Now it's not even uncommon.
On the other hand, if you want physical copies noone is pressing vast quantities and sitting on stock for a decade. The aim is to sell out in weeks

Pretty much everything wrong in the UK is her fault. It doesn't even take all that much effort to trace it back. Destroyed industry more by incompetence than will, tore public services to pieces, sold off the work of a nation for beans...

Just seen a headline which asks "Thatcher was born 100 years ago and her reign feels a lifetime away. Why is her effect on the country still so huge?"

It's because she was a massive bastard. Hope that helps x

Excellent news. Centrala is a real treasure, an excellent venue/art space.

I don't think Ballard is ever guilty of that kind of thing, although his characters are rarely very rounded

Have you seen she does something called, not joking, Vagina Vision Vortex?

Great set from Stick in the Wheel tonight, maybe the best I've seen them. Particularly enjoyed hearing this weird little song played live and, as mentioned, it does have a really nice video.
So, here you go

He certainly tries to present himself as such offstage. Thoughtful at least.
But also it's absolutely unsurprising to me that he'd be there

For their second album, the Californian four-piece broaden their scope, but the thrilling bursts of black metal remain the group's ecstatic core

It's odd isn't it?
Haven't Coldplay just done a lot more equally massive shows?
People take the piss out of them all the time, doesn't seem to stop thousands of people enjoying it and going to see them.
Say you think Oasis are dull and people get really defensive and angry with you.
