Covid is so mild that another 300,000 people have dropped out of the British workforce through ill-health in the last year.

I’ve just finished reading the hardback version… HIGHLY recommend that everyone should read this. Thrivalism cannot come soon enough. If you care about people and the planet, this book will resonate and educate.

Atmospheric CO2 concentrations "surged" last year - a record yearly increase

It's bad enough that we're continuing to burn fossil fuels, but now the world's natural carbon sinks (like the forests going up in flames) are failing too

Fuck
Record leap in CO2 fuels fears of accelerating global heating
CO2 in air hit new high last year, with scientists concerned natural land and ocean carbon sinks are weakening

Data for England continue to show COVID levels increasing.
ONS deaths: latest data📈doubled in 8 weeks.
Why?
🛑Limited testing
🛑Waning immunity
🛑Low priority by leaders
🛑Limited vaccine eligibility
🛑Scant use of face coverings
🛑HCAIs in healthcare settings
🛑Mixing in poorly ventilated, cramped spaces?

The warning is clear: #ClimateChange threatens our way of life, even here in the UK. ⚠️

Going past 1.5C puts us in the danger zone.

If we're to avoid the worst effects of warming, we must push on to reach #NetZero targets.
Government told to prepare for 2C warming by 2050
The Climate Change Committee said the UK should make climate change adaptions beyond the Paris Agreement.

Canada's Managed Forests, which comprise 230 Million Hectares, seem to be shedding Carbon. By late 20th Century they were typically a Carbon Sink. Now, thanks to increases in Natural Disturbances, they are a (growing) SOURCE of Carbon in the atmosphere.

The planet has reached its first catastrophic climate tipping point.

160 scientists from 23 countries warn that unless global heating is cut to 1.2°C as fast as possible, warm-water coral reefs will vanish “at any meaningful scale.”

The science is clear: We need to act now.

Yet another way that the current ‘Labour’ government mimics the Conservatives… we need clean indoor air in all healthcare and education settings NOW. Just possibly, perhaps, maybe, schools should use their CO2 meters and ventilate classrooms?

Keeping children, young people and their educators safe at school was an obstacle that should have been taken seriously - and still needs addressing. Clean air - Ventilation, Monitoring and Filtration all still needed along with guidance on when and how to use each. #CovidInquiry #LongCovidKids

Back in June we were back on the Oxfordshire “dinosaur highway”, excavating more dinosaur tracks with our teams from the Universities of Birmingham, Oxford & Liverpool John Moores. The BBC have a story out today about our work at the site:

Absolutely terrifying - the government is leaving communities utterly exposed to the effects of the climate emergency. We urgently need a plan with binding targets for how this govt will protect us as extreme heat and flooding worsen in the years ahead.

The Government has tabled 67 last-minute amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill.‼️

Rushed through with little scrutiny, it’s a shambolic way to reform the planning system.

It creates confusion, sidelines science and leaves nature dangerously exposed.
