I'm Oliver, a queer and disabled artist/writer based in the UK. I love to paint with ethereal lighting and playing with lost edges.

Whilst my illnesses are too severe for work, I still take part in charity projects and mutual aid (see below) and happy to be invited!

Saying goodnight to the bees as we approach winter 🐝

Watercolour paint and white gouache in watercolour sketchbook

I did a few sketchy sessions of this when in medical waiting rooms and this is what came together. It's only my third time using watercolours so I'm still learning, but it's fun!

As I continue to chip at this, I must do a reminder: don't be swayed by those who say the colourless blender is pointless. It's not, people just don't use it right!

They lift ink off the paper. Meaning, not good for blending colour. Fantastic to blend into white and create lost, painterly edges.

Thanksgiving is problematic. Giving thanks is not. As someone who wants to remember the attempted genocide of indigenous people but also likes a reminder to practice gratitude, I like to use Indigenous People's Month to support (and be grateful for) indigenous creators. A partial list! /1

Drawing well is a skill that's easy to prove and instantly commands respect because universally, every human has drawn something at some point and knows how difficult it is. Growing up fat/unpopular I could still earn some respect because I could draw well. Ai assholes want that without the work.
