A friend also had the idea of her being a bastard child of Jiol, which lines up with Jiol seizing women for himself according to Kaga in the Designer's Notes, and mirrors actions of the pretty similar character of Victor in Jugdral.

One idea I had was Sheena is actually not Gran but instead Archanean. Her noble mother was captured by Jiol which made her want to stay away from the country. Hardin let her rule the country since Jiol's marriage to her mother entailed Sheena being his daughter, thus an heir.

What are some peoples' thoughts on Sheena's backstory?
We get little tidbits of it in the Book II Gra map, revealing:
Sheena hid away at Archanea's capital after Jiol took her mother, who is his second wife.
