Elex 1: Crap! I forgot to incorporate the stupid… <trails off trying to remember the name of the thing>

Elex 2: You forgot to incorporate the stupid?! This rig doesn’t work without the stupid being incorporated into it!

Later…

Elex 3: I think I’m done.

Elex 1: Did you incorporate the stupid?
Oct 1996: I am loading-in the 19th annual production of a holiday show.

Oct 2006: I am loading-in the 29th annual production of a holiday show.

Oct 2016: I am loading-in the 39th annual production of a holiday show.

Oct 2025: I am loading-in the 48th annual production of a holiday show.
Sure he’s now physically destroying the White House instead of just metaphorically, but of course a hotel guy would immediately want to add an events center. With airwalls, you could have a wedding, bar mitzvah, & meeting happening at the same time!

The Emoluments Ballroom, only at The White House.
Always fun when the start of the show is delayed long enough that you hear songs in the preshow music that never had gotten played before.

(Less fun is when the start is delayed so long that the preshow music has to be restarted from the top.)
Update: I’m seeing bridges reopened to traffic. Still decent residual congestion.
Chicago: for those of us in Loop theatres, please note that the city has blocked at least some of the Loop bridges to vehicular & pedestrian traffic at the moment. While not fully the "fortress Chicago" level of using the river as a moat, this does largely create a logjam of traffic unable to leave.
Based on previous official city responses to large crowds in the Loop (generally making a crowded situation worse by blocking exit routes instead of just entrance routes), assume the gridlock will last awhile.
The upshot of this is: your matinee patrons may find it hard to leave (especially via car or bus), and your evening show patrons may find it hard to get to your show. Obviously, the extent of this is dependent on the duration of the march, & city government's response to it.

Chicago: It's also Day 1 of Open House Chicago, so if you're already out and about, you should take advantage of this beautiful day and check out some of the landmark buildings that are participating.

Equity and The Broadway League have reached a tentative agreement on the Production Contract. Now we will bring the deal to our members for ratification, and in the meantime, we are putting our full support behind AFM Local 802 as they work with the League to reach a deal that averts a strike.
This is today. My Metra station platform already has a sizable crowd going to the protest.

Allow extra travel time on public transit going anywhere in Chicago today, & especially if going into or towards the Loop via any method of transportation.
Chicago: A reminder for those working shows in the Loop or who pass through the Loop that this Saturday is the No Kings protest. The official location is Butler Field in Grant Park (the original band shell field, just north of the fountain, directly east of the Art Institute) starting at noon.
Just used information I learned nearly 40 years ago along with skills I learned nearly 30 years ago to fix part of a system I have not needed to deal with in 25 years.
Broadway In Chicago looking out for their (largely suburban resident) audiences tomorrow.

And honestly, partnering with Metra is a good idea for all productions year-round.
This is tomorrow. If you have shows in the Loop, or travel through the Loop to get to your show, allow extra travel time regardless of mode of transportation.

Walked out of apartment to see a neighbor picking up a cheap desk to carry away. As he walked, drawers started slowly falling out of the desk, smashing to the sidewalk. He just kept walking, leaving a trail of broken desk drawers behind him.

So, metaphor or possibly poster imagery.
But it's keeping my plate clean for when I sell my... plate... ;-)
One of the little joys of running a lighting console during a show is when one of your light cues acts as a punchline for a scripted joke. Hit GO, audience laughs.
Lots of golf carts with issues being reported today. Here's yet another: bsky.app/profile/cpsc...

There is currently no crowd estimate for this protest, though considering <gestures widely>, one can assume a large interest in attending. Allow extra travel time on all methods of transportation. I would also assume a non-zero chance of a march in the streets.

Reposting for those who do large-scale events and may use/own golf cart type vehicles for transportation around event sites.
#RECALL: Textron E-Z-GO Personal Transportation Vehicles (PTVs). The recalled PTV can leak fuel at the quick-connect fitting between the fuel line and the fuel injector mounted on the engine, posing a risk of serious injury and fire hazard. Get repair. Full notice: www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026...
