There's currently a Cloudflare outage. That means OpenAI is unreachable. Vibe coders must be in absolute shambles right now.

Python was awarded a funding grant, funding grant asked Python foundation to remove all diversity and inclusion initiatives they have.

Python foundation said no and rejected the grant.

If you use Python, send a few dollars to the charity to keep it going. I’m pushing a dono on behalf of ScamGuard.
Please read our statement, share it with your networks, and support us if you can. www.python.org/sponsors/app... psfmember.org/civicrm/cont...

I hate how most operating systems assume they are installed on laptops these days. I had my PC running a 21 hour transfer overnight. It went into hibernate after 45 minutes to "save battery power."

I can't figure out if companies misusing memes in advertisements is out of touch or a legitimate marketing strategy.

Why don't people understand that air conditioning doesn't work when the windows are open? This bus has air conditioning, but all the windows are open, so it doesn't matter.

Just stripped down and cleaned my mouse, and pulled all the keys from and cleaned my keyboard. They feel so good to use now. ☺️

I finished the Polish course on Duolingo. It only goes up to A2. I've become so disillusioned with the app that now, after a 1414 day streak, I'm going to let the streak break and uninstall it.

To be honest, I didn't know TRACE was still in orbit. It was before my time in Solar Physics. I've seen some of the images, and they're pretty incredible.
NASA's TRACE solar observatory, which operated from 1998 to 2010, reentered over the ocean 600 km south of Perth, W Australia at 1137 UTC Jul 18.

Other than Windows, I think VSCode is the best thing Microsoft has ever put out. This comes from a guy that used to use Emacs.

The home page of a website should be a log in page, not an account creation page. Looking at you, Overleaf.

My Pyrex measuring cup just shattered. I didn't think it was possible. I feel kinda betrayed.

Now that I think about it, French toast (pain perdu) is just the western version of egg fried rice. But instead of old rice, it's old bread.

I fear I may have lost my PyPI account. I've lost access to the primary email address, and without reverifying it, I literally can't do anything (I can't even change the primary email).
My only hope is the University of Glasgow IT helpdesk...

This Yougov survey contains an important finding: people who rely heavily on ChatGPT rate it as being "good" at tasks that we ABSOLUTELY know for sure it is very bad at

imo, this is a strong piece of evidence these heavy users simply do not ever check outputs
