I'm working on a game based on H.P. Lovecraft's short story.

It will be relatively short experience made in PS1 style and fixed cameras, main goal is to practice in UE5, 3D modelling and level design before I'll do my own original game.

Since it's for practice, game will be free.

Ahti can be funny and can be horrifying tbh.
His song “Yötön Yö” became a main theme of AW2 for me, it’s just so cool!

Still haven’t finished the game yet, now in the Lake House and I really like how all the DLC stories became a part of the main game.
But when I woke up, my first thought was “It could be stupidly fun and creepy multiplayer video game actually”
Similar to what CoD and BF do, when they let people have fun at “war”. Honestly when BF6 came out, notification “The time has come soldier to experience warfare” scared the shit out of me
Had a nightmare where some strangely looking naked man in a rusty layered environment chased me with a hammer. But I also had a hammer and looks like it was a game of “who will hit other in the head first” it was fucking scary when I thought that it’s real.
Finally met the Old Gods of Asgard!

Apple cannot process that apps can be free :D
Just to warn you, AW 2 is much slower in general and enemies are much more of a danger in it, but yes, overall world feels similar way, locations are changing constantly and you feel yourself in a hostile environment which you want to explore.
I’m falling in love with Alan Wake 2.
I believe I only felt that way while was playing Darkwood, SIGNALIS or original RE4. When the world felt incredibly immersive and engaging for me.
Totally agree!
Also I kinda think that they were inspired by Keanu Reeves for the “evil twin with a bike”
I didn’t know that Night Springs DLC is a thing that you access during the main AW2 story.
Just finished an episode about Rose saving Alan Wake.
It was freaking fun and stylish I can’t even describe it properly. But playing under the pink sky with 350 ammo in a shotgun while listening to OST is wow!
Enemies in the dark place will not attack Wake if you just aim at them, they will simply disappear before the fight even began and you will save both ammo and batteries if approach every place slowly. It’s such an awesome design.
For sure!
I believe when SCORN came out it has the same problem with players. Almost everyone played it as a shooter which it isn’t, when you’re not rushing - enemies will just do their stuff and go away. Same here, I believe people wanted RE4 and didn’t try slow approach to AW2.
While I was playing I understood that there are 3 things I’ve been avoiding in Unreal which are separating me from making survival horror in the future.

- Inventory system
- Save system
- Enemy AI

After I finish my first retro game I’ll jump into fight with these three monsters.

Are you started new game+?
Cause friend of mine recommended me to play the game twice, but with ng+ since it unravels more story, not like the usual second play through, but more like new perspective to the story or something like that
One chapter deep in the AW2
I love how they don’t rush the events and let you immerse yourself into Bright Falls before throwing you into dark hell.

Meanwhile figuring out some Debug tools in UE.

Finished Control AWE DLC it’s awesome and really ties Control into Wake’s story. Sad that there was only one “taken” in the dlc, but I like how Remedy utilises darkness in the game. The ending is just wow and got me so excited to play Alan Wake 2!
Looks like the final showdown, here we go!

UE Blueprints are so intuitive, the deeper I dive into learning the more I adore them in general. Probably because I love node based anything.
Hopefully will be sharing stuff soon-ish.

I can’t agree more. For me it’s one of the best
Feels good to be back into FBC.
