It's getting tense... not long now and still a lot to do! We're rushing in the level and placing the enemies and starting to get the ending in.

It's going to be really close, and I don't think it will turn out as good as we hoped, but it should be fun!

An update to the cocktail stick / eyelid mechanic! Now your eyes don't slowly close all at once... either eye shuts depending on which loses the cocktail stick!

This impairs the player's vision, making it harder to see enemies 😬

Will it be too unforgiving? Time will tell...

We've started developing the level! Here's an early look at the ballroom, thanks to 3D artist Sami!

This is the "heart" of the game so we're making sure it's right before we move onto other rooms and corridors. There are three floors planned, including a basement 👀

With "weeping angel" type enemies, getting stuck in dead ends will be repetitive and frustrating. A few dead ends are added as exceptions, but the player can find useful items should they take the risk...

The plan is to maintain tension whilst giving the player full freedom of movement.

I play a lot of Outlast Trials, and I noticed there's almost always multiple ways out of each room, allowing you to weave through trials without hitting a dead end - I took inspiration from this for the game!

Here's a first draft of some level design for Party's OVER, the Scream Jam game I'm working on!

Set in a Manor with a lavish ballroom, the monsters move very slowly, until you look away...

With this in mind, I took a specific approach to designing the level "cyclically"

Scream Jam 2025 has begun! I'm taking a break from usual development to attempt a wacky, tense horror game set in a lavish masquerade ball turned to hell...
