Gonna be real it feels like an attempt to delay the inevitable AI bubble burst. There’s so much money tied up in it that will all crash because like 98% of it is useless.

So now that ChatGPT is offering erotica, all the card processors should refuse to authorize subscription charges, right? 😒 Or was this only about the people using something to make money and not a corporation?

Really fucking tired of seeing people get away with this, too, and then pity posting after. Maybe do a bit of self reflection and understand that not every thought needs to go on the internet or in the chat.

If you post shit about ships you don’t ship, including the homophobic justifications behind them, in public channels, you don’t get to reblog a feel good “ship and let ship” post. Everyone is allowed to have their no gos, but when you make it public any effort to be open after is disingenuous.

#InternationalDayoftheGirl
In Ancient #Rome #girls faced many limits — little access to education, early marriage, no political voice. Yet some women owned property, led estates, & held power. The #Vestal Virgins, held unique status & privileges, though bound by strict vows.

Literally that entire season was so forced het romance that I actually lost all inspiration to finish the remaining 2 works I had for it. I can’t even suspend my own disbelief enough to finish my own work.

RIP vigilmaker, John Cena loved you but season 2 did not.

It’s actually difficult to articulate how sad bot/scam Ao3 comments make me. Comment culture is an afterthought now and for scam solicitation to be the only interaction a writer gets is genuinely kind of devastating. And this isn’t even about me, but just seeing one in the wild.

This striking gold necklace was made over 2,400 years ago. In ancient Greece, acorns were symbols of abundance and fertility, and used as decoration on gold objects.

The necklace was excavated over 150 years ago from the necropolis of Nymphaion in the Crimea, previously an ancient Greek colony.
A gold necklace with pendants in the shape of acorns hanging across the whole piece

#OnThisDay the #Romans marked Mundus Patet — “the earth is open.” On Oct 5, the gateway to the underworld was said to open, letting spirits walk among the living. Like a Roman #Halloween, it was a sacred day: no battles, no business, no marriages. 🏛️👻

So no, AI is not coming for film and tv. It’s spotted every time and the costs to fix AI made products exceed just making them manually every time. The same factors making your cost of living higher are making it more expensive to make film and tv - and so less is being made.
ocelittle.bsky.social
And if it were… the line would go the other way as AI would theoretically lessen the costs of production. But it’s not. Instead tariffs and inflation have skyrocketed production costs in an era with greatly diminished appetite for content and return on investment.

As someone with 10+ years in studio finance, this is the worst take I have yet seen. Soundstage occupancy is at an all time low because studios are either driven to high budget miniseries or extremely cheap products. AI is not being used in any meaningful way in these programs.

#ClassicsTober Day 4: Shroud 💀🏺👻
Art by flaroh illustration. This illustration shows two hooded skeletons crowding around the burnt offerings to the spirits of the departed. It’s a loose take on the Romans’ offerings to the gods and manes (spirits)

If you are uncritically reporting on a new event, comedy festival, app, or virtual museum that notes that “Funding for the project was provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”—then you are not doing it right. They are laundering their reputation for killing journalists.

The initiative was launched at UNESCO's World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development in Barcelona. The virtual museum was designed by the architect Francis Kéré in collaboration with the Ir'ernational Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). Funding for the project was provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

KS doesn’t actually require fulfillment- you’re backing an “idea”. Aka that money is gone with no consequences. However, Andreea has a very public LinkedIn and Facebook… but everyone is better off doing chargebacks and reaching out to KS to get the project shut down and have her banned.

A woman’s linen shroud from Roman Period Egypt is our pick today for #ClassicsTober25.

The artistry is phenomenal. The woman is surrounded by uraeus-cobras and the goddesses Isis and Nephthys depicted as red kites. At the bottom we see the woman led by Horus and Anubis into the afterlife.
Description adapted from The Met: “Placed over the supine mummy the naturalistic painted bust would lie over the face, and the panels of gods would have been draped along its sides. The woman’s rosy face and large eyes are striking. A long bone or ivory pin holds coils of her hair in place on top of her head, and she holds a small wreath in one hand. Over her abdomen Isis and Nephthys mourn, and over her lower body are placed the long strands of the late protective ornament as well as a net garment. Columns on either side of her head are invocations to the god Osiris, but her name is lost. The side panels are paired, showing the goddesses Isis and Nephthys as red kites (a bird related to the hawk); the four mummy-shaped “sons of Horus” associated with the bodily integrity; jackals associated with transit and cemetery; the Thoth-ibis and the Horus-falcon; and at the bottom scenes of the dead woman led by Horus and alternatively Anubis into the afterlife.“
