Perth was heavily fortified because it was the last port that troop ships stopped at for refuelling and supplies before heading to either Africa or Europe. Brisbane Line had nothing to do with Perth's heavy fortifications. i would hazard a guess it was heavily fortified right from the start.

South. Largest base in the Australian Army is in Townsville. There was also RAAF base there as well. It is why Townsville is known as the Garrison City. Neither of these two bases were ever moved south. Perth was heavily fortified long before the talk of the Line. It was the last stop for troops on

P.S. I am cheering on Ukraine. They are such clever people. In many ways they remind me about how we are trained. An example of that is, If they don't have a fancy weapon then they cobble something together and get on with the job. We are taught the same things. There are many other similarities.

Exactly we don't know. As a former soldier I understand the logic behind it. I can't remember where I read or heard it from but my understanding is that even if Japanese Army had made to the mainland, the land itself would have been our biggest defence. Let Nature take care of the problem.

Maybe you need to read a bit more. Eddie Ward didn't accuse Curtin of any wrong doing. It was Menzies and McFayden he accused.

Eddie Ward couldn't have levelled anything at Curtin after the war unless he used a clairvoyant. Curtin died before the war ended.

Yes I know about the Brisbane line and yes it was a possibility. It must be remembered that the advice he was given would have come from the military. It must remember a lot of our military was fighting in Africa. Curtin had to go toe toe with Winston just get some of troops back here.

The Men on the Kokoda track saved Australia. It may have been a small battle but it was the most significant of all the battles. It stopped the Japanese Army dead in their tracks and the Aussies had them on the run from then on.

I saw something about Churchill and FDR letting the Japanese have Australia. John Curtin found out about their little plan and went ballistic on them. So it was Curtin who saved Australia not them.

There was no love loss between Churchill and Curtin. Curtin wouldn't Kowtow to Winston.

Even when I was in the military, I felt that the US military shouldn't be operating on Aussie soil especially when they keep shit from our military. From memory, quite a few people who served, felt the same way.

I don't trust the US. They are always sticking their beaks where it's not wanted.
