i am having an absolute blast really beating up these mechs for my battletech pirate lance. the assassin is 40 tons of undergunned, underarmored glory at lightning speed. probably better off shoulder tackling than shooting most of the time, and that can be a little rough on the paint job.

my personal favourites are necropolis28 and turnip28 but theres a million weird little systems out there with dedicated fanbases that dont take quite the level of learning rules and buying fancy models that the ones you mentioned do, while remaining quite deep and leaving lots of room for creativity

so glad i discovered the indie miniatures stuff that sidesteps a lot of these problems while allowing me to be way more creative. its harder to find any group but also a lot easier to find a good group. maybe try checking that stuff out? way cheaper, way chiller, still get to play with cool toys.

and yet in its aestheticization, loses its impact. i mean its obviously just a bad fit, the violence in alan moores watchmen is brutal, disgusting, and jarringly sudden. there is a reason for that.

watched it recently after doing a reading group on the comic. infuriating. a fundamental misapprehension of the text. losing the squid is far down the list of awful changes. making ozy a gay european twunk so you know hes evil, rorschach as hero, rape scene with action movie sound effects, etc. etc.
