I'm proud to see Abigail Ramnarine, a student in #TheGreat28, continuing to inspire through her art with the Mayor's Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes' Youth Ambassador Leadership Program.

Initiatives like these empower our young people to stand up to hate and build a more inclusive city.

Ballot proposals 2, 3 and 4 take power away from everyday New Yorkers, giving it to unelected mayoral appointees and developers. Don’t be misled to give away your community’s power. Learn more at whatsonmyballot.nyc

But Mayor Adams’ misleading ballot proposals threaten these benefits. We all want more housing, but communities don’t have to give up their power to ensure homes are affordable to them, and their neighborhoods get what they deserve.

In South Jamaica, Queens, we approved new housing at Sutphin Boulevard and secured crucial investments in community space, a rooftop garden, and a mural. This was made possible by our neighborhood’s power in development decisions, represented by their Council Member.

This election, Mayor Adams’ misleading ballot proposals 2, 3 and 4 threaten to take away communities’ power to secure neighborhood improvements as part of development, like those for affordability, parks, schools and much more.

I was deeply honored to accept the Legacy award at New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) annual “This is Our New York” Gala last night!

At a time when our diverse communities & those across the nation are under attack, we must ensure the right for everyone to live safe, stable, and dignified lives.

D'Angelo was a true icon who pioneered a new generation of soul music and created some of the best music.

My condolences to his family, loved ones, and everyone mourning his passing today.

Rest in Power 🙏🏾🕊️

This support for communities and equity is at risk from Mayor Adams’ misleading Ballot Proposals 2-4, which would undermine the power to deliver more affordability in housing, health, and neighborhood investments.
nycspeakeradams.bsky.social
These investments to address long-standing racial inequities are possible when communities have a voice and power in the City’s land use process.

The composer of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s National Hymn, Ms. J. Marjory Jackson, contributed so much to our community through her leadership in our sorority, her music and dance studio, and her decades of civic engagement.

Proud to honor her life and legacy at today's street co-naming!

On National Coming Out Day, we celebrate coming out as an act of liberation that confronts silence and ignorance, and combats homophobia.

At my 2025 State of the City address, I made clear that addressing this years-long issue would be a top priority for @council.nyc.gov.

These bills advance necessary solutions that will help ensure a thriving human services nonprofit sector.
council.nyc.gov
For years, the City has failed to pay nonprofits in a timely manner.

Yesterday, the Council passed a package of bills sponsored by @nycspeakeradams.bsky.social & @justinbrannan.bsky.social to address this chronic issue and ensure nonprofits can focus on delivering essential services for New Yorkers

Today, I sat down with Morgan McKay on FOX 5 NY's Politics Unusual to discuss Mayor Adams’s misleading ballot proposals 2, 3, and 4, which will curtail community voices and hand more power to developers and unelected appointees hand-picked by the mayor.

@nycparks.bsky.social plays a vital role in maintaining our parks and recreational facilities for all New Yorkers.

The Council has fought to restore budget cuts, but our parks require greater resources. The agency must be funded by the administration to fulfill its essential role.
council.nyc.gov
In our latest agency report card, @nycparks.bsky.social receives an overall B grade.

The agency does critical work maintaining our city's beloved parks and green spaces but suffers from a lack of staffing due to constrained budget commitments by the mayoral administration.

We celebrated Sukkot across the city today!

This morning, I joined our Jewish Caucus at our annual City Hall sukkah, and later celebrated with Devorah Halberstam, Dr. Reuben Ingber, and Chanina Sperlin at their homes.

Grateful for the community that unites us. Chag Sameach! 🌿

Trump's weaponization of the Justice Department for political retribution and personal revenge is a threat to our democracy.
