Someone is inevitably going to bring up enshittification, but I think the thesis described software over the past ~20 years. Apps today come pre-enshittified, or else turn to shit extremely quickly (see ChatGPT turning to ads and Anthropic strong-arming Cursor).

Now on one hand, this is true.
On the other, technical design decisions do enable or provide a barrier to behaviours and that should always be a consideration.
You can't fix society with tech, but that should be an excuse to make it worse.
