I don’t know how but several of my recent posts have made it to… other sides of Bluesky and attracted some weirdos and trolls

PSA: I am strict. I block without hesitation.

I’ve had a chill time on here so far bc I don’t allow nonsense. I’m here mainly for Black folks and New Orleans folks.

Anton is a certified alcoholic. I knew it from the moment of the big reveal when he cared more about killing that bottle of champagne than getting one more look at her. And unfortunately I recognize that drink math #LoveIsBlind

Trump found another $20 BILLION to give to Argentina, totaling their bailout to $40 BILLION.

Yet we can’t afford to prevent millions of Americans from losing their healthcare.

Shame.

If you think there was some magical time period when white conservatives became less racist, you need to talk to Black people and study history

Not draw from your own experience as a white conservative and take that as the universal experience

All the love you’re seeing for D’Angelo is what happens when you leave the world in a better place than how you found it.

He and his art will be missed.

Looking back, that was actually wild. I was a first year teacher, 22 years old. A lil delusional, def too earnest

Somehow raised enough $$ and did enough planning to take 40 12 year olds on a charter bus to Boston (27 hour drive each way). I would not do that drive again but the kids were worth it

It got me out of my hometown, where my family had been for 3 generations. It inspired my younger cousins to branch out too

It led me to teach. A year after I graduated, I got to bring my 7th graders on a EOY trip from New Orleans to Boston. It meant so much to see them seeing what was possible

College itself isn’t a scam, but there is something scammy about the astronomical tuition costs & the fact that 18 year olds have to take out loans that they don’t understand

19. Is college a scam? Why or why not?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
Having to work 2-3 jobs the whole time. I got a full ride (income-based) which I’m so thankful for. But I still needed $$ for books and everything else. Felt like I was playing on hard mode

16. What was your least favorite thing about college?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
Too many to count! Most of them were with a choir, Kuumba. The oldest existing Black student org on campus, founded as a safe space for Black creativity & spirituality

We went on tour to Atlanta, NY, Philly, Chicago, Bermuda. We performed for Lionel Ritchie, Rihanna, Wyclef. These are my people ❤️

12. What was the best class you took in college?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
It’s not enough to just learn. You need to network & build connections

11. What is something that you wish someone told you before you went to college?

Free pastries & drinks from the cafe I worked at

10. What was your go to meal in college?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
I worked hard & played hard 😭

I found community & learned self-reliance. I worked 2-3 jobs the whole time & tried not to compare myself to rich classmates whose parents did their assignments. I found my love of education & public service. I learned a lot & built confidence

I love history. I love books. More importantly, I love context — why people write or create the things they do

My major was History & Literature (diff dept from History, Literature, or English). I loved it & would study/teach it for the rest of my life if higher ed wasn’t like it is

7. Why did you want to major in your major?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
Exploring what actually happened in the past, how people represented it in their art, and why there are gaps between those things

Always reading, writing, and talking about what I read and wrote (a veces en español)

6. Tell me your college major without telling me your major.
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
Reading comprehension
Media literacy
Critical thinking
Research skills

I did my absolute best when I taught 7th grade English, but with 30+ kids per class spanning all reading levels, there was never enough time to do everything

5. What is something that you would would be taught more in school?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
Top of the class but a lot of it came naturally. Friendly, quiet in big groups, loud w friends. Anxious, nerdy, a lil emo. Active in too many things — track, color guard/marching band, choir, musical theater, part-time job, always dating somebody. Home was a mess so I avoided it as much as possible
astoldbynai.blacksky.app
4. What type of person were you in school?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
Chasing curiosity
Thinking critically
Asking why
Changing your mind when presented with new information

2. What screams intelligence to you?
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
When I watch these shows, I need to know ALLLL of the context. Every bit.

Who said what exactly? What happened before that? Who else was around? What were their facial expressions? What was the vibeee? What happened in ep 1 and ep 3 that led to this blowup in ep 6? I want to know everything
nthatsthetruth.bsky.social
Somebody I know is watching this season of Love is Blind but not the full episodes. She’s only watching it through clip compilations & clip reactions on YouTube 🤔

We’ve had such different takes this season & I was confused bc we’re usually on the same page. It’s bc she’s missing all the context!

Way too comfortable. Some of my aunts will be like “I ran into so&so the other day. I ain’t tryna be mean but she done got big…”

1. Her appearance is irrelevant to the story
2. Yes you are trying to be mean actually
3. If we’re gonna talk about weight, you’re the same size or bigger. Now what?
