When we say "recession indicator" it's not a joke
I've been noticing an uptick in celebrities taking random payday gigs doing commercials for the sorts of things that, a few years ago, they only would've done for a Super Bowl ad.

My theory has been a lot of financial advisors are telling them to get paid now before the big collapse.
Once again thinking about every actor trying to justify taking the money for the new HP series.

Every time I hear something new about Ethan Klein, he has unlocked new depths of evil and delusion

Today’s random cringeworthy memory is when I was 8 and my teacher told me “zip your pants discreetly” and I didn’t know what discreetly meant so I stood up and went to the corner to zip my pants 🤦🏾‍♀️

Thanks, brain.

I support the LGBTQ community but I am very slightly annoyed that "giving tuesday" is now ambiguous

One of my problems with the slogan is that dems refuse to define and build a strong floor

What is it? Universal basic income? Universal healthcare? Reliable social benefits? Ensuring due process? No nazis or oligarchs?

Because they’re not doing any of these things. The floor is quicksand
The problem with “Strong Floor, No Ceiling” is that no one knows what the fuck it means, and not in the “allows for multiple different, but positive, interpretations” way.

IF YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN YOUR SLOGAN IT’S A BAD SLOGAN.

See also “opportunity society.”

“Do you design those boring trainings we have to take every year?”

I do design training but NEVER the shitty ones w stock photos & a billion buttons to click, or that hold you hostage til you’ve clicked everything or spent X seconds on the page

All of that defies learning science & people hate it
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Got invited to a xmas party where you have to bring $20 (or a dish) + a bottle + blankets + a finished gingerbread house

Have to pick up the gingerbread kit from cousin’s house & build it before the party. But can’t eat it bc it’s already expired 😭

I love a good themed party but this is overboard

The bond.

I went all the way to the other side of the world and got the head nod. We really look out for each other, acknowledge each other, and communicate volumes without words.
Black people, what’s your favorite thing about being black?

If this is real, it’s excessive and unhealthy
People are very hard on young people on here, lack of critical thinking, lack of responsibility etc, and then you see something like this and it all makes a different kind of sense.

This makes me wonder — of all Trump supporters, how many of them have a hard line where they would stop supporting him? Of those who do have a hard line, what is it?

I didn’t expect someone’s hard line to be the r word in 2025 after we all saw him mock that disabled reporter in 2015
Indiana GOP Rep Mike Bohacek whose daughter has Down Syndrome says no to gerrymandering after Trump used an offensive slur in his Thanksgiving post.

I get it, but he knew who Trump was before he posted the slur. Why do they see the light only after it affects them personally?
Republican whose daughter has Down Syndrome votes 'no' on Trump plan after slur
After Trump used an ableist slur while ranting on social media, a Republican senator said he's voting no on redistricting in Indiana

90s too. I was 9, babysitting my brother who was 2, and the only way I could reach my mom was paging her. She said to page her the number 911 if it was important 💀
Many of us weren't well supervised in the 80s. Our parents gave us house keys, dropped us at school, and hoped for the best.
Okay. So I just finished S1 of Stranger Things!

Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I feel like none of the children in the entire series are properly supervised though 😂

Men are so weird

My parents were married for 22 years & have been divorced for 16

My mom saw my dad & his 2nd wife from afar in the grocery store. When he saw my mom, he literally started moving weird. Like stopped walking normally, started doing a dance-walk thing & swinging his arms

We have an unprecedented shortage of air traffic controllers and he’s worried about some slippers
Sean Duffy: "Dressing with respect -- whether it's a pair of jeans and a decent shirt, I would encourage people to maybe dress a little better which encourages us to maybe behave a little better. Let's try not to wear slippers and pajamas as we come to the airport."
