Because yes, Thanksgiving as a national holiday has to do with the Civil War and not the Puritans or previously proclaimed days of Thanksgiving (of which there were hundreds) - so be sure, as you gather about the table, to give thanks for the victories brought by Union arms at Vicksburg & Gettysburg

The answer is almost certainly no, for any specific "thing" you might be thinking of.

A heartbreaking detail about the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is that something like 20% of the crew on the Fitz was planning to retire after that journey, which was the last run of the season.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 95th day out of the last 107.

12 days of work in 107 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

My daughter (7 months old) is a very messy eater. When we feed her at home, we take off her shirt to keep her clean. Being the weirdo historian, it makes me think a Victorian boxer getting ready for a fight. My wife just smiles and rolls her eyes at my weirdness!

Life today is just jumping between the worst different historical periods had to offer. From the gilded age to back to race based hiring! What's next? Phrenology?

The government has been shut down for 27 days.

Families are already seeing their premiums skyrocket for next year.

This is a crisis and NEVER in my time in office have I seen a president who won't even TALK to the other side about a solution. This is absurd.
