Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

On #macOS Tahoe, Emacs.app GUI from Mitsuharu Yamamoto's emacs-mac 29.4 build was consistently freezing using 100% CPU, as was emacsformacosx.com build. Recently started using Doom, but w/ no config same issue (ran ok in terminal)

Seems to be solved using d12frosted/emacs-plus 30.2 build #emacs

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Tech discussions are a lot more lively / active on Mastodon and I might post more tech stuff there going forward: hachyderm.io/@nileshk

This place is still great as a more general Twitter replacement though.

I’ve been trying to use Openvibe to do both at the same time, but doesn’t vibe right to me

Preparing to install #Linux on my gaming PC, need to pick distro. Narrowed down to #Debian 13 or Endeavor / #Arch. I know stable vs rolling release is quite different but hard to predict my usage patterns & which will serve me better.

iOS Bluesky client bug. Shows “1mo” for both but the post I’m reskeeting is 1 month before my post (should be “2mo”). It makes it seem like they were both 1 month ago from now, which detracts from how I was trying to show that Max correctly predict an event that happened about 1 month after his post

Started the #vim built in vimtutor and that is helping. Years ago I got better at #emacs by starting with its built in tutorial and I would recommend that as a starting point.
Trying to get better at #vim has been a struggle so far, and I'm a long ways off from learning the equivalents of things I can do quickly in #emacs / mg. But its only been 2 days with sparse usage. I also have expectations of what vim is capable of, and constantly looking up how to do things.
Not installing #emacs or ng on a #linux server I am working on and forcing myself to use #vim. I might finally give in and learn vim properly after 3 decades of avoiding it. #unix
