Due to UK's electoral system now quite plausible scenarios where:

1. Tories get most votes - but only get 3rd highest nr. of seats
2. 2 of the 3 biggest parties by seats are Reform & Tories - but they cant get a majority
3. Labour to get a majority would need LibDems, Greens, SNP, PC

Fun times.

Throw money at an action film and any film student could make a half decent action film.

...but if the jokes are flat it doesnt matter if the premise, stars or budget are great a RomCom will tank.

Thats why few RomCom films are made today but hundreds of mid budget forgettable action films are.

What the racists forget to mention...

A significant part of the "white exodus" of Britain is east Europeans returning home & taking their British born partners & children with them.

Another of the many ironies of Brexit:

Brexit has led to reduced white immigration & increased white emigration.

Ross I totally get why Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead isnt everyone's cup of tea, but I still remember evening almost a decade ago I saw Travesties with Tom Hollander.
A fun, totally accessible joy from start to finish.

Stoppard is worth giving a chance..

One thing worth noting:

The 3 title contenders are clearly Arsenal, City & Chelsea.

Arsenal have played both teams already.
While City & Chelsea are yet to play each other.

We are 5-6 points ahead having had the tougher first third of the season.

Hardest game yet for Arsenal.
Easily more difficult than the Bayern, Liverpool or city games.
The benefit in depriving Chelsea of 2 points could be huge considering how good they were.

Happy with a point.

Got a bad feeling about the game against Chelsea today.

The idea our defence would be
Calafiori
Hincapié
Mosquera
Timber

going into our most difficult game of the season seemed absurd just 3 months ago.
Last year our 1st choice back 4 was:

White
Saliba
Gabriel
Lewis-Skelly.

A draw would suit me.

Really enjoying all the UK journalists getting all confused/angry by a chancellor apparentaly misleading the media on the exact financial/fiscal situation prior to a budget...

...when literally every chancellor has done this one budget or another my entire political life dating back to the 1980s.
It's completely ridiculous. Pre-budget everyone thought the headroom gap was £20-30bn including policy changes (e.g. on welfare). It was in fact £16bn.

It's hardly a massive difference.
I’m quite enjoying the 180 turn on a six pence from “you’ve wrecked the economy and created a black hole” to “there was no black hole and this is even worse”.

Im torn on the "Jota thing".

On one hand I want to be a modern sympathetic guy.
But GW's Max Rushden thesis its a way to explain Liverpools form seems way overblown when the worst players at Liverpool this season barely knew the guy.

Also some players are close friends at clubs, but many are not.
I’m sorry, but the passing of Jota doesn’t explain the form of guys like Isak, Wirtz, Kerkez, Ekitike and Frimpong who never played with him, nor the fact that they were 5 points clear in September. Surely the effects of grief would be felt more greatly closer to the event?

I like @gabyhinsliff.bsky.social - probably my favourite Guardian OpEder.

But it really is strange to read this in the Guardian today when the very same Newspaper has spent the last few years flogging the idea of Polyamory on a daily basis...

Away from the politics of this:

Taxing by income has largely reached its limits. In a country where income has barely risen that much for most people in 2 decades but property assets have quadrupled in price means that whatever your political persuasion there is no alternative but to tax wealth.

When I proposed to my now wife she also started crying.

I'd chosen the garden of her favourite restaurant overlooking the sea.
She started crying so much that several people came over to offer help & assistance while giving me bad looks.

Been married 8 years now.
Fake proposed to my girlfriend for a joke on holiday. She started crying and was so happy. Felt so bad I couldn't tell her it was a joke. Anyway we're getting married next year.

BREAKING:

Footage of 4 asylum seekers laughing in July 2024 now released.
There is so much messed up about this front page Express story today.

There's no suggestion or evidence ANY alcohol or drugs was consumed. This is literally just people dancing.

And buried in the piece: "The footage is believed to have been filmed just before Labour took power in July last year."

I listen to the Times "The Game" podcast when Arsenal have had a good week.

Alyson Rudd didnt really want to talk about the 4-1 win, but asserted the club try to "pretend that the "North London Forever" song is 100 years old".
Literally no one has ever said this.

Then complained about the Tifo.
