I was extremely infatuated with the "Plane Crazy" version of Mickey Mouse when I first saw him. So many of my earliest character designs were just variations of this design with different animals.

This is an extremely charming movie that’s a visual wonder, but sadly out of print in the U.S. hoping for Discotek or GKIDS to rerelease this one.

I really adored the visual design of the human characters and the lush environments. Brings a lot of atmosphere to this film’s world.

When I was a kid I rented a Disney cartoon tape from Blockbuster, which included this intro going over the history of Mickey Mouse. It was from this I learned that Mickey was created by human hands and I thought this was the greatest discovery of all time. I immediately thought "I wanna do that."

60s anime is also a great study for limited animation, truthfully it feels like a better measuring stick for tackling indie animation if you don't have a big budget or big teams

I love the art style of anime shows from the 1960s. They got that cartoony look to them.

Not Gospel, but some advice that helped me (A small thread):

Almost everything can be boiled down to a Box, Sphere, or Cylinder. Practice drawing basic 3D shapes in different angles. Arrange them, stack them! It will help you build up more complex object like bodies and machinery.
