You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

I read the story this morning. Everything for the mine owners, black lung for the miners.

It was the Biden administration that put limits on silica inhalation and forced mine operators to install ventilation and other remedial measures. Yet they voted in droves for Trump, who is siding with owners.

And at least with local police you can file an abuse complaint with the police board or other governing body. There is no mechanism to file a complaint about ICE agents who abuse their authority and assault people left and right.

One of my former employees applied with the FBI and two agents interviewed me for half an hour asking if I knew any organizations he belonged to, who he associated with, if I knew anything about his family etc.

I didn’t know him particularly well so I wasn’t much help but they never let up.
