Scream/Se7en/Sliding Doors advanced screenings in college. Had no idea what I was in for.

The Matrix advanced screening on the Warner Bros lot. Was sad that I had to wait months to see it again.

Son in Law, because I told my date I'd put my arm around her when the Goo Goo Dolls song came on.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

This is my favorite of Mr. Wendig's apple reviews.
All of them are worth your time, but this one is the sauce.

The hardest writing I do is querying.
(And I have what I think to be a good query for at least a couple of my books.)

Generally, I'd rather write another book than send out queries, but that's left me with a handful of finished books and no agent to help me get them out into the world.

Let’s Be Clear: Artists & Creators Must Have Transparency NOW!
Every single day we don’t have transparency, the value of copyright loses ground and the harms inflicted to creative industries grow. California has always been on the forefront of policies that can ...

Did they use Channing Tatum as the model for Josh Allen?

I’ve discovered a new way to accidentally cause chaos at the Thanksgiving table.

“My favorite Star Trek series is Deep Space Nine.”

Say it at your own peril.

Always worth taking a moment to remind you if you’re pirating authors’ book you’re a shitty person. You can rail that our profession isn’t a profession all you want. You can paint yourself as an online revolutionary liberating ideas. It’s all bullshit.

You’re just a shitty person who hates writers.

I wish there was an author/agent matchmaking situation that wasn’t a scam.

A friend of mine said I need to get back to the me that wouldn't take "no" for an answer.

So I guess I need to invent a past me that didn't take "no" for an answer.

I promise you, trans people have existed throughout human history. We have the records; we have the stories; and shameful as it is to use this as a marker, we have the slurs. Humans are GREAT at slurs, but we usually develop them because they have targets. If the slurs exist, so do the people.

Throwback Thursday to that time I co-directed Linda Hamilton in a feature I co-wrote. She was an absolute gem of a person.

Running gag goes meta as Johnson says he knows nothing about Trump knowing nothing
RAJU: Last week you were very critical of Biden's use of the autopen. But Trump admitted on 60 Minutes to not knowing he pardoned a crypto billionaire who pleaded guilty to money laundering. Does that also concern you?

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that. I didn't see it. I'm not sure.

I still regularly converse with my creative writing college professor. A great writer and person, I still learn from him and I think he gets a little positivity from me.

When I told him I was in revision, he shared some of his thoughts on narrative beats--

When I was a kid, my younger sister Kristin, my cousin Leslie, and I would walk around the block at Leslie’s house in North Tonawanda and make up stories/adventures. I think it might be the first bit of “writing” I ever did.

I don't know that I've ever heard this as a response before, but I was pretty proud of it. So sharing....
