During the final week of parliamentary recess, I've been:

🏧Speaking about the new Rainham banking hub, opening this month
💊Working to improve local pharmacy services
🪩Visiting the International Dance Festival at Medway Park
💧Updating residents about new flooding prevention
Rainham once had three pharmacies. With the problems at Jhoots we barely have one.

📱If you would like to share your concerns and experiences about pharmacy provision, you can access my quick survey here: naushabahkhan.com/rainham-pharma…www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...mp

Good morning spent speaking to residents across Gillingham and Rainham
🌹Great to visit and speak to so many organisations, businesses & charities; as well as speak on panels at Labour Party Conference this year

✅I discussed with different groups how their services could benefit & support our communities in Gillingham & Rainham.
🏧RAINHAM BANKING HUB ANNOUNCEMENT🏧

✅Earlier this year, I secured a Banking Hub for Rainham High Street.

🗓️On October 9th, local residents can attend an information drop-in session, hosted by Cash Access UK, at St Margaret's Church to hear about next steps
🎓What a pleasure to return to my former school, Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School, and speak to students

📚It was great to receive so many thoughtful questions on a range of topics.

🙌🏾Thank you to all the staff and students for the warm welcome.
Good to meet the Prime Minster (and of course Larry!) at No 10 this morning, discussing the economic growth, the NHS and migration.

A great opportunity to discuss what matters in Gillingham & Rainham
This week I've been:

📢Requesting action on the growing number of HMOs locally
✅Voting through the Employment Rights Bill
🇬🇧Backing our Armed Forces at the Defence Academy, Shrivenham
👋🏾Holding multiple surgeries to tackle local issues
‼️Gillingham is being overrun by HMOs... & this is why

It's shocking to see the town advertised as prime real estate for developers who want to cash in on "minimal licensing complexities"

The unrestricted development of HMOs is damaging our communities. I want to change this
🇵🇸Yesterday, alongside other Labour MPs, I met with Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot

The slaughter of innocent civilians must stop now

Talking with Husam & working with other international partners reinforces the need to secure an immediate and permanent ceasefire & recognise a Palestinian state
Some personal news… I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Cabinet Office

Looking forward to supporting the gov in coordinating policy, driving efficiency & delivering in Gillingham & Rainham and across Britain 🇬🇧
🏥Following my ongoing discussions with local health stakeholders, it was good to meet with the Secretary of State for Health @wesstreeting to discuss challenges with GP recruitment and retention in Gillingham and Rainham.
🇬🇧It was great to launch Labour Tech's policy paper yesterday, focusing on protecting Britain's homegrown defence tech sector, as inaction puts our national security and economic growth at risk.

You can read my piece through the following link: labour-tech.org.uk/wp-content/upl…
“If it is the choice between a politics of action, collaboration and community, or the politics of division, I choose the former every time. Gillingham and Rainham deserves that, and so does Britain”

📚I’d like to wish everyone collecting A-level, T Level & VTQ results in Gillingham & Rainham the very best of luck!

⚡️It’s an important day & you should be proud of your hard work, regardless of your results.

❗️The rate and scale of HMO conversions in Gillingham have reached an unsustainable level and are now negatively impacting our local community.

Cllr Prenter and I are determined to change this. Please read our statement in full.
This is the last of my weekly updates until September, as parliament is in recess. For casework issues over the summer, you can contact my office by emailing [email protected]
Alongside over 200 other MPs I’ve signed this joint letter to the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary, urging them to recognise a state of Palestine.
"There is so much to be proud of here... and I want to ensure that Love Gillingham is not just about an annual event but a reality of living here"

🩵At the Big Day Out, I highlighted how Love Gillingham is not just a one-off occasion, but an approach to improving our town centre
🇬🇧Last week, I visited the First Fusiliers in Salisbury.

👉🏾It was important to understand first-hand how we are modernising our warfare and adapting our training to respond to the growing possibility of conflict and increasing foreign threats.
🎉After months of planning, and lots of hard work behind the scenes, it was brilliant to take part in the #LoveGillinghamBigDayOut2025

🩵Thank you to all the organisations, groups and wonderful residents who contributed to this special day.
Good to be out in Rainham this weekend for my regular Street Surgery. A bit rainy ☔️ but that didn’t stop the conversation!
