I'm several months late to the "four games I've worked on" party, but I'm doing it anyway! 🎮

P.S. The original poster just got laid off with no notice. If all the horror story replies gave you a laugh, consider dropping a couple bucks into the fundraiser! (If you have the means right now ♥️)

I was just laid off from my job with no notice so if anyone can give anything to help me stay afloat until I can find something else I would really really appreciate it. No amount is too small ko-fi.com/impavidus/go...

I'll go first: Six page commercial lease.
An absolute treasure, this cat 😍
I continue to be glad that I have my senators on speed-dial.

Actually reached a human being today instead of a voicemail. Was told they're getting a lot of calls supporting trans rights. Glad to hear it.

✨Let's give them some more calls.✨
1. Trump has dug in on anti-trans provisions in the shutdown fight this morning, cancelling a meeting with Dems unless they cave on trans people.

His post to Truth Social is a clear indication that Republicans are making targeting trans people a priority.

Trump Digs In On Anti-Trans Provisions In Shutdown Fight Message
The provisions are becoming a key sticking point in the ongoing fight to keep the government open.

The decision to put my senators' DC office numbers on speed dial continues to pay off. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

(Erin's post includes links to articles with more information.)
Just in case any of y'all thought they'd actually filibuster the appropriations bills coming with all the anti-trans provisions and shut the government down.

Call your senators, demand no anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ provisions in appropriations bills.
Schumer on government funding: "Our position remains this: We want to keep the government open by engaging in bipartisan negotiation where we can address some of the grave harms Donald Trump has caused to our health care system and help Americans with the cost of living."

A screenshot of a Tumblr conversation. The user sirobvious writes:

“Avoid video games that use extrinsic motivation. A video game should at least mostly rely on intrinsic motivation, meaning that the playing of the game itself is the fun part, not the reward you get for playing the game. If you don't enjoy the gameplay, but you want to earn lootboxes, you've fallen into the intentionally exploitative system operating within so many games nowadays, and you need to find another game, because you're not having fun. It doesn't sound serious, but this kind of thing can make depression way worse if you've already got depression."

The user smitethepatriarchy replies:

“This post got me to stop playing Overwatch and I'm eternally grateful.”
Long ago, at a company that no longer exists, I heard someone say our games needed to get better at "driving the compulsion loop."

And, I mean, no disrespect toward that person - our studio was struggling to survive at that point.

But I did think to myself: "Wow. Is that what we want?" 😐
I feel lucky that this was my introduction to games. It usually wasn't glamorous, but I got to work on lots of different projects and meet tons of neat people, some of which are still close friends to this day ♥️
Real talk: I got my start in the game industry working on little handheld movie tie-ins!

They can absolutely be good games if 1) the dev team has the skill/resources/motivation make them good and 2) the client/managers grant that team the time/budget/leeway to make the game good.
Bring back movie tie-in video games
Calling my credit card company to ask why they're destabilizing the industry I work in (and thus threatening the cash flow that funds every transaction I make with them) was not on my bucket list, but here we are.

We had a long, polite, cordial chat. I plan to have more.
Welcome to the weekend! You made it sailor. Which censorious payment processor would you like to call first? Thanks to my moot @dieselbrain.bsky.social for the Stripe number, can confirm it works

the number below doesnt work, as Stripe has changed their number, and is demanding a $2.99 fee to even tell you what it is.
however, this number DOES still work and will let you leave a message:

This is an insane thing to write about game development. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/28/a...

Most experts acknowledge that a takeover by artificial intelligence is coming for the video game industry within the next five years, and executives have already started preparing to restructure their companies in anticipation.
After all, it was one of the first sectors to deploy A.I. programming in the 1980s, with the four ghosts who chase Pac-Man each responding differently to the player's real-time movements.

Heh, it’s very possible that anxiety has distorted my recollection of how I’ve acted in the past! It’s been known to do that. (Like, a lot 😄)

I'll message you!
Hey Anna. Wanted to say:

As someone who hasn't seen you in a very long time (and who - let's be real - occasionally butted heads with you a bit) I would absolutely miss you.

Speaking of which, if you ever wanna chat, I'd be sincerely delighted to catch up sometime ✨
A queer dev who worked on one of my favorite indie games (while homeless, I later learned in an interview??) is trying to flee to safety. Happily donating some of my Pride month mutual aid budget.

If you're able to chip in too, that would be lovely. Even small amounts help. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨
finally got to where I'm a month out from being able to GTFO of the USA.

Things gonna be bumpy and a down to the wire given the scope of the whole "poverty gal moving life across continents to evade looming fascism" thing; any assistance would induce much love.

I was not expecting to be spellbound by an hour-long documentary about this creepy photo I've seen all over the internet for years.

I also was not expecting the origin of that photo to tangentially involve my home town. 😮
It's worth mentioning that this move will endanger people above the age of 65 and people at high risk as well.

The more the virus is allowed to spread and mutate, the more likely everyone is to get sick. People at high risk groups will bear the brunt of that, vaccinated or not.

Hello! 📣 We're working on an adventure game called Phonopolis where every single texture is hand-painted on a piece of cardboard, and even particle effects like flames and smoke are hand-painted frame by frame. Please wishlist on Steam if you like:)
This but in real life, please, thank you

Have a safe return trip!
