While I haven't yet performed anything by #composer Reena Esmail, I've been following her work for a long time. Most recently I heard a whole festival themed on her music this past October. Find her works at www.reenaesmail.com. Don't forget to support #womencomposers this month and always!
Germaine Tailleferre was the only #womancomposer in Les Six. She lived 1892-1983 and wrote solo, chamber, concerto, orchestral, radio, and film works. Her Arabesque for #clarinet and #piano has a melody I dare you to forget. You can find some of her works on IMSLP.
My favorite reed case ever!
That's in incredible, congratulations!
Wow this is fascinating!
The universe brought @whistlinghens.bsky.social together with #composer #clarinetist Jennifer Stevenson during the pandemic, and are we so glad it did.

That relationship started with Letter From Beirut, then Musical Invective and Nesta Rua. Wander her lovely catalog at tessellamusic.net
Only a few weeks ago I discovered the #music of Ivette Herryman Rodríguez and was captivated. I haven't had the chance to play anything by her yet but it's on my wish list! Treat your ears to her music at www.ivetteherryman.com, and don't forget to support #womencomposers this month and always!
Discovering Victoria Bond's #music has been a source of joy for @whistlinghens.bsky.social starting with Scat 2. Now we're preparing to premiere Lingerie, a piece we commissioned last year. Here's a sneak peek of the hilarity to come👙

Victoria's catalog is huge! Explore at www.victoriabond.com
I can't remember how I stumbled across Ke-Chia Chen's work, but I'm so glad I did because I discovered Song of the Wanderer for #clarinet and #piano. It is transportive.

Explore her works at www.kechiachen.com, and don't forget to support #womencomposers this month and always!

I met Cherise Leiter in 2019, and she transcribed @whistlinghens.bsky.social first work, American Folk Suite. Since then, we've worked together on Eve's Diary, Dear Old Year, and Friends from my Childhood.

Her catalog is substantial and delightful - check it out at www.cherisedleiter.com
In the past year it has been a delight to work with and play music by Jane K. A Cycle of Love Songs (rearranged for clarinet/soprano) and two trios for cl/hn/bsn (and much more!) are available at www.janekmusic.com, and don't forget to support #womencomposers this month and always!

BREAKING: In response to our lawsuit, the National Endowment for the Arts will no longer force grant applicants to certify that they won't promote "gender ideology."

This is a big step toward defeating the NEA's unconstitutional censorship.
This is such a sweet and cute idea
Commenting to follow when it's available. Sounds like a good new piece text opportunity for @whistlinghens.bsky.social 😂
I didn't know this - thank you!
Oklahoman Zenobia Powell Perry's music was influenced by Black American and Native American culture, and jazz. She was a vocal civil rights activist who dutifully gave back to her community. Catch her Sonatine for #clarinet and #piano

It's been a delight to play music by Jane K. A Cycle of Love Songs (rearranged for #clarinet, #soprano) and 2 trios for clarinet, horn, and bassoon are available for sale, and a lot more. Go check out her music at www.janekmusic.com, and don't forget to support #womencomposers this month and always!
It's difficult to find historic works for #clarinet by #womencomposers (it was not socially acceptable for women to compose, especially outside of #voice or #piano), but one such delightful work is the Romanze by Marie-Elisabeth von Sachsen-Meiningen. It's a lovely Classical/Romantic example!
Today I'm listening to Chants by Melissa Dunphy, with poetry by the intriguing Rosaleen Norton. It captures mysticism, mystery, a world of fantasy, and a unique sense of spiritualality.

Find Melissa's work at melissadunphy.com, and don't forget to support #womencomposers this month and always!
