"The 'reduction in enthusiasm' [for climate action] among rich nations didn’t happen by accident.

It’s the product of a deliberate and systematic assault on knowledge by some of the richest people on Earth.

Preventing climate breakdown means protecting ourselves from the storm of lies."
Climate breakdown is driven by a storm of lies. This lying is systemic, funded and coordinated, and operates across almost all media, old and new.
This week's column argues that we cannot fight the climate crisis without also fighting the epistemic crisis.

Dark forces are preventing us fighting the climate crisis – by taking knowledge hostage | George Monbiot
The fundamental problem is this: that most of the means of communication are owned or influenced by the very rich, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

A lot of psych is already conducted with online convenience samples & ppl are probably excited about silicon samples bc it would allow them to crank out more studies for even less 💸

How about we reconsider the idea that sciencey science involves collecting own data.

Omg, how didn't I know about this before! #WiFi4EU - aiming to provide free wifi in public space EU wide. Not perfect yet but still a great initiative.
I point to #WiFi4EU as prior art on the matter, which was supposed to blanket public spaces across Europe in free wi-fi in 2018. In 2024, coverage is spotty and functionality is inconsistent. (Yes, I know, urban & terrestrial networking is a whole thing, don't come at me)
