If we can raise £100 for every day in October, I'll be cutting off my hair and donating it to the Little Princess Trust!!

All money raised will go towards saving Nibbles Rabbit Rescue and helping the bunnies in their care find their forever homes 🩷🐰

September was a month of READING for me ❤️📚
The perfect merging of two of my worlds: Pokémon and Mexican wrestling. Wanna see Sylveon and Togepi kick some ass? Also, don’t miss the headline march of Machamp vs Hawlucha! m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsv3... I’m so giddy

My current act of petty rebellion is filling my tiny, quaint and very British village library with (mostly) queer horror.
A stack of books sitting on table. The books are: Model Home by Rivers Solomon, Listen to Your Sister by Neena Viel, Hungerstone by Kat Dunn, Nothing but Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw and The Library at Hellebore by Cassandra Khaw.
I won’t lie, it was a difficult read (but essential), because of how well it nails the discussion of abuse. There were parts where I recognised my own confused, angry, self hating thoughts.

Highly recommend. Going to be thinking about this one for a while.
📚Model Home by Rivers Solomon: horror that revolves around trauma, identity, racism, family. Had to sit for a while and have a big think once I’d finished it. The way it’s written is a good rep of how memory is warped by trauma, how we attack ourselves when we’ve swallowed a story that isn’t our own

Don’t understand what Indefinite Leave to Remain means? Let me explain from a personal POV

If Reform get in, my Mum will be deported.

Taking out the emotion: she has lived in the U.K. for 50+ years, paid taxes, worked as a midwife in the NHS. She has contributed more to the UK than these racists.
If this happens, it will tear apart families, and destroy the UK.

Immigration is fundamental to our existence, our universities, health care system, creative arts & more would be destroyed.

Reform are the biggest danger this country has faced in my lifetime

No worries ❤️ Super excited for Hungry Ghosts! And while you say the duology isn’t escapism - they are cathartic (is that weird?!). And so many points where I had to sit with something you’d written about Mira’s experience of being mixed race, because you’d perfectly voiced something I long felt x
Fathomfolk and Tideborn are excellent, by the way. Everyone should read them, especially given current events. Sea creatures and humans trying to live together in Tiankawi; facing rising tensions, revolution, fear of marginalised folk in a fantastical ESEA-inspired backdrop. Also, dragons.
What a time to be writing fantasy about immigrants being treated as scapegoats and the rise of populist politics...
Amazing, I’ll be there! ❤️
@zenaldehyde.bsky.social Hey! I saw on MCM Comic Con’s website that you’re guesting at the Oct/London event! What times will you be there and are you on any panels? Hoping to pop by! ❤️

On 27th August 2015, The Shepherd's Crown, the last book Sir Terry Pratchett completed before he died, was published.

To mark the ten year anniversary, we have a message from Rob Wilkins:
It’s been ten years since the publication of The Shepherd’s Crown, the last book Terry Pratchett completed before he died. Once the spine on this one was cracked, there were no more new Pratchetts to look forward to, and I know a lot of Discworld readers who were, understandably, with that sad reality in mind, reluctant to finish - or even start - this one because it felt like the final closing of a door.

But I also know that Terry wanted his books to be read and enjoyed far more than he wanted them kept on a shelf. And as time passes it becomes ever more apparent how much the Discworld books reward re-visiting, perpetually revealing something new, literary gems Terry had hidden away for a second or third, or even more, re-read. Every Pratchett is to some degree an unread Pratchett, including the ones you’ve already enjoyed and including The Shepherd’s Crown.

So the greatest way to honour Terry’s legacy is to pull that book you’ve been saving off the shelf, make a nice cup of tea and settle down to read the story he wrote for you. Enjoy.

I’ve had the exact same thought about my one…for the last two years now 🤦🏻‍♀️
I know it's a long road from here, and lots more studies to do. But this is just such a landmark moment, and I'm excited to see what comes from this. A huge thank you to the @decodemestudy.bsky.social team for all your hard work and advocacy on this.
DecodeME has released initial results from their huge study into ME/CFS. I feel so emotional. Hopeful? Like I'm not going mad? Justified that there are now PROVEN links with immune/neurological systems & I'm not just being overcautious around viral infections bcos they knock me flat for a REASON
(1/2) Key genetic differences found in people with ME/CFS > Swipe to find out more.

These findings reflect the lived experience of thousands of #pwME.

Thanks to all our participants & supporters who made this possible!

Read a summary of our results: shorturl.at/pgsjk
Graphic 1 of 4. DecodeME: The Results graphic. At the top in bold lettering, it says ‘Main Findings’. Beneath this it says ‘Your genes contribute to your chances of developing ME/CFS. Other key findings are on the following slides. Graphic 2 of 4. DecodeME: The Results graphic. The slide says ‘People with an ME/CFS diagnosis have significant genetic differences in their DNA compared to the general population’. Beneath this is an image of a DNA helix and a magnifying glass. Graphic 3 of 4. DecodeME: The Results graphic. The slide says ‘These lie in many places across the genome, and do not impact just one gene’. Beneath this is an image of a DNA helix and graphs. Graphic 4 of 4. DecodeME: The Results graphic. The slide says ‘Eight genetic signals have been identified. As DNA doesn’t change with ME/CFS onset, these findings reflect causes rather than effects of ME/CFS’. Beneath this is a blue magnifying glass with a DNA helix.
