Current philosophical focus:

- (history of) German vitalism (1920s & surrounding decades)
- Civilization (& its self-destructive tendencies)
- Art
A work of art may be like a door behind which lies a changed version of yourself. When you walk through it, you are transformed.
Not every one of these doors is open for everybody. Some remain closed to me, but might be open to others. There are some I could go through but don't want to.

Today visited Museum Ludwig in Cologne. In the entrance hall a Reclining Figure by Henry Moore, obviously an early one since later he did this motive again and again in a more abstract fashion.

I found a copy of this wonderful record in the 1980s in a basement record shop called "Unterm Durchschnitt" in the street called "Durchschnitt" in Hamburg ("Unterm Durchschnitt" means "Below Average" but this is above average). www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7WR...

I wonder if perhaps some #moths are camouflaging as polypore #fungi with their colours and stripe patterns. I am thinking of, for example, carpet moths like this one: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:-_...

Alex Konadu has been one of my favorites since I discovered Highlife, and specifically Guitar Highlife, in the early 1980s. This music is based on Highlife, "Palm Wine Music" (played on guitars or saperewa harps), as well as on Nwom Kro music.

Pedagogy is the art of helping people (including yourself) to transform themselves. You cannot transform yourself by asking questions to an "AI". You have to answer the questions yourself. In the process of doing so, you move a step out of your old self. This is even true in professional education.

I suspect the expression "OK" is an abbreviation of German "Ohne Kommentar" (without comment). I imagine a boss commenting the paragraphs of a memo. Those that where Okay where marked with "o.k.". Just a theory, of course.

Today visited the Max Ernst Museum in Brühl, the town where he had been born. First time back here since a couple of years. Turned out entrance was free today (every last Thursday of the month).

I visited the Käthe Kollwitz Museum today. Should you come to Cologne and have time to visit just one place, consider going to this one. Recently reopened after 3 years of refurbishment.

This morning, I was hit in the face by a baton.

I’m going to have a pretty gnarly bruise but we need to remember why this is happening: Trump and ICE are rounding up our neighbors, treating them as subhuman, and shipping them off to labor camps in foreign countries. It has to end.

Google, asked what is the point on earth furthest from any sea tells me that it is the "Siberian continent's pole of inaccessibility". It provides a link to that. Clicking on the link gives me an answer that "The "Siberian continent's pole of inaccessibility" is not a standard geographical term". 😂
