Just a suggestion that folks refrain from ableism and ageism when discussing Mitch McConnell.

Being old and falling down doesn't make him a trash person, but all the actual trash things he has done and facilitated definitely do.
No matter how much you dislike Mitch McConnell, it’s not okay to equate his falling or his age with his awful politics. There’s plenty of real reasons. Please use those. 👹☄️💥🌐
Respectfully, there’s a difference between being ableist and following federal laws. I worked that system for 22 years until my kid aged out. As much as I hated it, adulthood is worse. At least for my “kid.” I don’t see how parents are going to be able to replace the work of a Federal dept.
So far this morning @npr.org has interviewed the fasc Likud party loving Nobel awardee and not a single peep about the decimation of the Federal Special Education offices of the DofEduc. So disappointed. Way to side with your enemies and throw your allies overboard.
Yet to read- comes from a trusted source. We need 💯 % more attention on what is happening at the DoEd with special ed and IDEA
True true true. I hope the lawsuits have already begun or they will be asked back on Tuesday when calmer heads prevail. But… are there calm people left? Many in power that I’ve talked to in special ed world are in denial and are not able to organize or even inform opposition.
I’ve been advised to emphasize that DoEd is there to ensure that States enforce IDEA equally. Plus the research and technical assistance. Thanks for posting! 💕
I have tried to post about it but honestly between how complicated the system is (even some principals who have to run IEP meetings don’t understand what the law entails and most parents don’t get it) and how little outsiders care…

Make America Great Again…

GTF Out!
For those who thought they were doing this to save our kids: NOPE! NCarolina Medicaid cuts that went into affect Oct. 1 mean Fabrello will have a pay cut as a family caregiver. Maklakoff qualifies for services he can't get because providers already didn't take Medicaid's low reimbursement rates.
States are cutting Medicaid provider payments long before Trump cuts hit
North Carolina and Idaho have cut their Medicaid programs to bridge budget gaps, raising fears that providers will stop taking patients and that hospitals will close even before the brunt of a new fed...

They did this to Luigi in NYC & uh… it kinda backfired 🤷🏻‍♀️☄️💥🔥🤣
Any delay you experienced? It’s our fault, the Rs who voted to gut the social safety net- while we and our families get that sweet ass government healthcare. 🐷🐽🐖🐷🐽🐖
This breaks my heart. Sustaining listener at WOSU, WNYC & WMMT. I challenge fellow listeners: flip the couch cushions, raid the spare change jar, cancel streaming & substack subs. Donate It x 2 to your local radio station, one you love or a rural one that’s in danger of closing. I ❤️ public media

Georgia’s Medicaid work requirements program spent two times as much on administrative costs as on health care costs — while preventing thousands of eligible Georgians from accessing health care.

Say it with me: Medicaid work requirements don’t work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzMqYttKv1c

The report concluded Ohio has dropped to 45th in the nation in the state share of K-12 revenue from 35th a few years ago. But the state has the eighth highest property tax rate in the nation, and those who are the most hurt by those bills are the least able to pay them.
Ohioans are paying eighth highest property tax rate in U.S., school and state money experts say
Ohioans paid $16.7 billion in property taxes last year, and those high property taxes are not leading to lots of spending by schools but instead are making up for low state spending on K-12 education.
