Zohran Mamdani campaigned a lot and appears not to hate the voters whose support he's seeking. Here's what other Democrats can learn from his unorthodox strategy.

my husband could attest that i literally broke down in tears the other night because Zohran is campaigning the way i have been begging candidates to for the last twenty years.

almost all of them have been too afraid.

he’s right. the future of the democratic party is to become less popular, more staunchly pro-Israel, more violently right-wing. Zohran is popular and worse, promises positive change to his constituents. If the Dems became more like him, they might be forced to follow through on such promises.
Hakeem Jeffries says Zohran Mamdani is not the future of the Democratic Party.
Ya I get ya, I mean it's cheap AF to manufacture - like 8 dollars a months dose. I suspect pressure will mount, especially as compounders figure out the ways to keep making it. As much as I hate Trump, he specifically targeted glp1s with his cheaper drug statements, wether he'll manage that or not 🤷‍♂️
It's not, I stated that as well, but this is more then a bandaid is my main point
But agreed that it should be cheaper sooner - and pressure can work.
I get mine for 150-200 a month from a compounded. It will get cheaper.
Fair enough, I just get really frustrated when all the comments on the article seem critical of the drug itself, which while that may not have been the intent of your comment, it's doubt casting along side other more "People should just eat less" comments and it conflates it, ya know
That's fair, but I wish the discourse was "It's to expensive we need to demand it to be cheaper!", rather then "Since I can't access it, no one should"
The side effects at the start are pretty rough stomach wise, but subside eventually - though newer versions apparently have less side effects. But ya, that's the biggest hurdle is the cost and the initial digestive side effect of a slowing digestive tract
I'm less concerned cause they were used for diabetes for years before being opened to weight loss
I get you, but these drugs really are fantastic, and should be celebrated. The main issues is the over profit taking by the companies charging 100x their production cost. Compound pharmacy helps somewhat but really we need to pressure them to lower it
As a note deflecting from the plain meaning of your first comment by calling me fragile and denying it's implications when I didn't come on strong is actual fragile behavior - gitgood
"Or you could adjust your diet. Get rid of ultra processed foods and exercise more."

What are you saying with this? What is your implications? I assume that people don't need this drug and are just lazy which is why they are far?
All this comment chain is people's first reaction to a drug that help.people loose weight telling them why they don't need that drug when that *hasn't worked*, but people just like to blame people and demonize medication because they don't like drug companies (which is the only part that makes sense
It only cost the drug companies like 8 dollars to make. If you are having issues getting it funded, you can try and find it via compounders and working with your doctor for a custom dose. Still not cheap but also like a third to a fifth as costly
The people that hate on GLP-1s are so misinformed, fat and addiction hating ablesits.
This drug solves so many issues and they are improving - it basically solved my wife's PCOS, it cuts alcoholism, smoking, improves heart health beyond just weight loss, and more. It should just be cheaper cause
It actually helps with cutting addiction to smoking.
It's almost like good medication is helpful.
Not all meds are painkillers ment to addict. Jesus people, are we all haters of effective science and good drugs that improve people's lives???
