Welcome to this #WheelersWeekly!

It’s been a really positive week in #WorsleyAndEccles meeting community groups, visiting schools, and holding a constituency surgery.

So, grab a drink, get comfy and let’s catch up on the week. 👇
NEXT WEEK: Parliament returns after conference recess and I’ll be attending Committee meetings and speaking with organisations. I’ll also be in #WorsleyAndEccles visiting local groups and clubs.

Thanks for tuning in to #WheelersWeekly. Until next week, take care!
CONSTITUENCY: If you’d like to meet with me to discuss local issues, concerns, or national policy matters, I have more constituency surgeries coming up with available slots in November and December.

NATIONAL: I know communities in #WorsleyAndEccles have been affected by recent flooding. I’ve seen the impact first hand, and this Government is taking action.

We’re investing £10.5 billion through to 2036 to protect homes and businesses against flooding, a record investment.
CONSTITUENCY: I held another constituency surgery, during which we discussed a range of matters including:
🔹 Housing
🔹 Personal casework
🔹 Flooding in Worsley

Thanks to all who came. I appreciate the opportunity to meet with #WorsleyAndEcckes residents and address concerns.
CONSTITUENCY: Roe Green Cricket Club hosts a weekly Community Coffee Morning, and I was pleased to drop by to meet the volunteers and community groups who use this space to connect, share ideas, and enjoy some good company.

CONSTITUENCY: I met the team at ASDA Swinton to hear about their Ticked Pink campaign, raising funds for Breast Cancer Care and helping promote awareness this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

NATIONAL: Labour is providing £8.2m to North West councils to support people experiencing homelessness as part of an £84m national funding boost. Families and children in temporary accommodation are prioritised, with essentials like food, school travel, and laundry covered.
CONSTITUENCY: With Pupil Parliament elections at St Theresa's Primary School, I spoke with students about life as an MP, the responsibilities of Parliament, and answered their questions about the role. Great to see them so engaged in local, national, and wider political issues.
CONSTITUENCY: After England’s success at #RWC2025, I joined Eccles RFC for their Girls Rugby Fest. It was great to see 140 pupils from 12 local schools developing new skills on the pitch and being inspired by the World Cup. It's a legacy we should all be proud to build on.

Wonderful day on Monday! Started with an assembly at St Teresa's RCP on what an MP does & listening to the students' ideas.

Then to Eccles RFC for RugbyFest w/ Sale Sharks Foundation & Salford Schools Sports Partnership. Great to see kids enjoying rugby inc. the girls from St Teresa's!
NEXT WEEK: As Conference season continues, I’ll be in #WorsleyAndEccles visiting local organisations, charities, and schools, alongside my next constituency surgery. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for following this #WheelersWeekly. Until next week, take care!

NATIONAL: Hate and antisemitism have no place in our country.

My thoughts are with the victims of the Manchester synagogue attack and their loved ones.

To Jewish communities everywhere - You are not alone, and you have our full support at this distressing time.
CONSTITUENCY: Great to see people in #WorsleyAndEccles at Google's Digital Garage.

The workshop covered ways to improve digital skills, use AI tools, and build confidence online.

I'm really pleased to have worked with Google to bring this to #WorsleyAndEccles.
CONSTITUENCY: I went to visit Salford Sailing Group run by Tony Beckett. The Group has done an amazing job for decades, giving young people from Salford experiences they wouldn't otherwise have had.

They're doing wonderful work. Thanks for the brew Tony!
CONFERENCE: Last week, MPs from Yorkshire and Lancashire went head-to-head in a rugby match organised by @therfl.bsky.social.

A welcome chance to come together over our shared love of the sport. Yorkshire may have taken the win… but we’ll be back next year! 🏉
CONSTITUENCY: The £20m Pride in Place investment for Peel Green will be shaped & delivered by local people.

The priorities of people in Peel Green will guide how it is spent.

CONFERENCE: @usdawunion.bsky.social's event, Workers’ Rights: Labour’s New Deal & Beyond, focussed on how the Employment Rights Bill is helping strengthen protections for workers in the UK.

It was a great opportunity to talk about the impact of this crucial legislation.
CONFERENCE: I met with @sheltercharity.bsky.social, @guidedogsuk.bsky.social, @gamblingwithlives.bsky.social, and @prostateuk.bsky.social to discuss their work and the campaigns they are advocating for.

Thank you for taking the time to meet with me and talk about your aims.
CONFERENCE: We’re already delivering the change we promised:
✔️ 5 million more NHS appointments.
✔️ 5 interest rate cuts.
✔️ Wages growing faster.
✔️ Planning changes to get Britain building.

This is national renewal in action, and it’s what gives me real hope for the future.
CONFERENCE: At Labour Conference, the PM was clear: Britain faces a choice - decency or division, renewal or decline.

Achieving what we want isn't easy, but we must deliver for all: end years of decline, improve public services, and put more pounds in your pockets.
Welcome to #WheelersWeekly!

With conferences in full swing, I spent some of last week in Liverpool at Labour Conference attending sessions, the PM’s speech, and key policy announcements before a number of events here in #WorsleyAndEccles.

So, time for a brew and catch up👇
