This. I also feel it keeps people writing the same stories and outcomes over and over to emulate, trying to capture the same feelings, experiences. Sure many people want to read the same thing over and over but I think as a writer one has to really grapple with this choice and what it means.
It makes you hold back, it makes you write from a place of paranoia. And yes, the terror of bad reviews is real — but at the end of the day, you’ll never be able to cover all the bases.
