Grouchy old fart, enjoys books, birds, baroque music, alliteration and, of course, spiders (but then, who doesn’t?). Semi-skilled at a number of unimportant things like game-playing, computer surgery and natural history story-telling. Lazy.

I see a fair amount of “They’re all terrible, we need to get rid of them all!” baloney right now.
Yeah, no.
There are some good leaders, some cowards and traitors and a whole lot of followers, like any human group.
Weed out the bad, bolster and add to the good.
Talk is cheap; actions count.

I think Chuck Schumer’s family motto must be “That fuckin’ guy!”
In Latin, of course.

It was a beautiful morning for birding, but a bit warm and not windy. Pretty quiet, on the whole; many of the usual birds, but nothing extraordinary and probably a dozen species were missed.
Still, unlike golf, here the good walk was not spoiled.

It’s a beautiful morning - good day to see what birds are out. Maybe another Golden Eagle!

Leftover white rice, reboiled until it’s like cream of wheat, with added ingredients from scallions to bits of meat. Filling and tasty! And great when illness makes eating tricky..
For those affected by the current SNAP situation, but can't eat gluten, I'd like to throw in the very tasty option of Congee. It's a rice porridge dish that's saved me so many times when I've been short on cash, and is SO easy to make and goes a long way.

My favorite way to make in it the next post

The Andrew thing is an encouraging move: when you knock the enemies off-balance, try to knock them down; when you knock them down, put the boot in.
In recent memory, when the Democrats have bumped the Republicans, they have apologized, handed them back their knives, and given them a free shot.

Two weeks of work in three months, with a pay rate higher than anything I ever got in 50 years of work.
It’s the Republican dream.
We’re paying big bucks to the biggest losers and slackers I’ve ever seen. Why can’t we fire them?
Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 94th day out of the last 106.

12 days of work in 106 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

Ok, now you know that right now Schumer is desperate for a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by a “bipartisan compromise” that will hand the Republicans what they want in order to reopen the government.
Screw that. Time for the spirit of Unconditional Surrender Grant to appear.

If you can’t think of anything good to say about a pile of filth in human form which has recently passed away (far later than he would have if there was a loving God), then by all means post it here.

Keep pushing, but don’t expect to win any time soon.
The Supreme Court, like the rest of the GOP, knows it has gone too far to back down safely, so expect it to get much worse. But it will get worse than that if we don’t fight, so keep fighting!
Vote! March! Be the raindrop that makes the flood!
