I had a bit of a shocker with my Year 7 class this week when teaching pie chart angles, so i've broken down a task as a backwards faded worksheet - available to download as a .pdf and editable .ppt here: mrchapmanmaths.wordpress.com/2025/03/19/c...

New blog post: Posing Problems with Paper-Folding

It looks at how a single paper-folding activity can be used in various ways by supplementing it with different questions.

Every time I teach fractions to Y7 there are students who already feel they have mastered it. So it was great in #Mathstoday when exploring the relationship between the numerator and denominator, to see that this was new to the whole class as a way to spot equivalent fractions. #MathsChat #Mathtoday

Made a few revision grids. Again aimed at a GCSE Statistics Foundation class but may be helpful for Higher Tier students.

Feel free to use/adapt! Let me know if you use them and spot any errors.

Gave my Y9s this diagram for #MathsToday. Picked a few numbers for a,b,c and then their task was to work out all the lengths and angles.

Next lesson we'll cut it out and reassemble it and they'll discover that they've secretly been doing 3D trig!

Couldn’t find a balance between ‘basic’ angle fact reasoning and GCSE exam-style questions, so did this to try and get my yr11s to see what I see when I look a shape: mrdrapermaths.wordpress.com/2025/04/13/b... (Has some labelling up of isosceles triangle practice bits too that I enjoy!)

Around this time of year with my KS4 classes I take them to a computer room and get them to explore the brilliant maths revision resources that are available to them in a computer room. They rate the resources and take their reviews away for reference.

I split all the GCSE Maths past papers into odd and even numbers making the perfect 45min homework paper. Then I filmed a tutorial vid for each, linked it with a QR code on the front of each paper & listed the Sparx codes for each question. They’re free and you can download them here: bit.ly/4jyYz8C

I used to encourage students to highlight F or Z shapes for parallel lines questions, but today I just told Y9 to highlight the transversal. It’s an easier first step, and they were almost always then able to immediately see what to do next.

Also, I love these MathsPad questions!
