Absolutely devastating news. Itagaki was a huge part of my gaming taste, and I always felt sad that he didn't feel good about not making new games. Ninja Gaiden, the early DOA 1-4, hell, even Devil's Third, were unapologetically his vision and I will always respect that.

according to a notice on his Facebook page, Tomonobu Itagaki has passed away at the age of 58. No details were shared, but the statement expressed his misgivings about “failing to produce a new game for the fans”

Major evolution in the GZDoom community tonight - the regular contributors finally had enough of the project lead, who had been very hard to work with for a long time. He dug in and told them "If you don't like it, go and make your own fork."

15 years of “wisdom” is equivalent to 3 months of experience in our industry. Very little that’s come before applies to what you will go through today. Most things that can be described as a modern hit either relied on an IP with past success, or didn’t follow any of the rules of “good marketing.”
