Something about the Trump catastrophe must come down to a poor sort of relationship between mothers and sons; if you know a 1950s son of the sort of 1920s mother who believed every word he said and listened to egotistical rantings with gentle compassion and encouraging noises - "he can do no wrong".

i think it’s materially detrimental to people on a societal level to never have to hear the word “no”. going day after day, year after year, of people always catering to your every need without any pushback creates unhealthy expectations from and a complete lack of boundaries between your fellow man
