“Well-meaning” people are using machine translation to write Wikipedia articles in languages that they don’t speak themselves, accelerating the degeneration in quality of the web corpus for several languages with relatively few native speakers.

How AI and Wikipedia have sent vulnerable languages into a doom spiral
Machine translators have made it easier than ever to create error-plagued Wikipedia articles in obscure languages. What happens when AI models get trained on junk pages?

Neat!

This is legal #julialang to write a (useless) closure :)

julia> function (x)
x + 1
end
#2 (generic function with 1 method)

For every cool #julialang tip or script someone shares with me I will share one in return

Yeah, maybe!

Hindsight is 20/20.
#julialang 1.12 released now with `--trim` binaries and many other goodies!

Hi #bevy :) It's time for your weekly #bevymergetrain, where I go over the community-approved PRs for the #opensource #rust game engine that I help maintain.

Follow along as we review the 9 PRs in our backlog: it's a fun mix of process, programming and praise :)

The regime's desire for authoritarianism is bottomless, but their capacity is not. Not even close.

They rely on bluster and memes to make up the difference. The threat is real, but less powerful than they say.

Freedom-loving Americans outnumber them by a lot. Communities can resist. Like this one:
This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.

Community action works.

Awesome!

It was especially useful to have a visual guide of the layering of invariants with different wrappers: this one talks to the allocator, this one asserts it's NonNull, etc.

Great post!

I haven't gotten into deterministic simulation testing and it seems to be a big win when writing anything database-y/concurrent, so I think I should learn this tool at some point
