🎄🔫 Die Hard - Have a Holly Gennaro Christmas

In this episode, we discuss McClane, Gruber, and the Christmas movie debate that will never die. Plus, we suggest what limo driver Argyle SHOULD have been doing besides listening to “Skeletons” by Stevie Wonder on repeat!

Fun LA movie location fact:
Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard is actually the former Fox Plaza building in Century City.

I see it all the time because I’m at the Century City AMC way more than I should be. 🎬🏢

Similar experience for me. Watching Snakes on a Plane in Los Angeles at the Bruin theater near UCLA on opening night was the most fun time I’ve ever had at a theater!

Everyone was hissing whenever the snake POV shots were used. 😂

#SnakesOnAPlane #FilmSky #MovieSky
The midnight/opening day showing of Snakes on a Plane in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It was a party atmosphere with EVERYBODY in on the premise and absurdity of the movie. It’s still the most fun I’ve ever had watching a movie in a theater.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

Highlights from my #LastFourWatched

I really enjoyed “Fackham Hall” and it was a much needed comedic break after seeing “Hamnet”.

Seeing “Wake Up Dead Man” in the theater on the day that news broke about Netflix’s attempt to purchase WB was “interesting”. 😅

Well, they’ve certainly captured the look of the characters!

Jason Momoa as Blanka actually looks good in this photo!

Movie Postmortem: Die Hard (1988) 🎄🔫

🎉 Causes of Celebration: Willis’ vulnerable hero, Rickman’s iconic villain, smart script, fast pacing, Christmas vibes and score

💀 Causes of Death: cartoonish police chief and FBI

🧵 Stitch-Ups: give Argyle more to do in the garage, cut the obnoxious reporter

These look like they are for a legacy sequel to Stranger Things set 25 years after season 1. 😬😄

I remember when I first saw this picture! It was the first time I saw a picture of what Jim Carrey’s Grinch would look like and I was so impressed! This pic is a great showcase of Rick Baker’s work!
#jimcarrey has a visit from #eddiemurphy on the film set of #thegrinch with both in full costume - the two movies were being filming at the same studio lot. 😂😂😂

In our Jingle All the Way episode, I talk about the Christmas present I wanted most: the Nintendo Entertainment System. I did get it, and my mom later told me it wasn’t from Santa or even her, but from my grandmother. 🥹💖

What was your most-desired Christmas gift growing up? 🎁✨

The film wasn’t very good, but the soundtrack was the album I listened to the most in 2025.

What’s a film you watched way too young? 🎥

I’ve discussed on our podcast before that as a child of the 80s I probably saw every major slasher film by the time I was in second grade! It was a different time! 😅

They never scared me though. The film that gave me nightmares was Godzilla 1985!

📞 “What’s your favorite Christmas movie?”

Yes, that’s Drew Barrymore in Babes in Toyland! Before Scream, she was taking much more wholesome calls.

This 1986 TV movie is basically a bargain-bin Wizard of Oz: swap Kansas with Cincinnati, the tornado with a blizzard and add Keanu Reeves!

In our episode on Jingle All the Way, we discuss how Howard and Myron committed so many crimes that both should be in jail by the end of the film!

Assault, theft, bomb threat, property damage, impersonating an officer, terrorism, and giving a reindeer alcohol!

All for ONE toy.

Movie Postmortem: Jingle All the Way
🎄💪🏻

🎉 Celebration: Arnold’s self-deprecating humor, Sinbad’s improv, Phil Hartman

💀 Death: parade absurdity, wife subplot, too-cartoonish finale

🧵 Stitch-Up: ditch parade fight and flight, more grounded in store chaos

This just reminded me that I need to add this to the films we will cover next year! This is such a fun film and my 2nd favorite Michael Crichton novel! 💎🍸🦍

Just wanted to point out how good the line “thou canst do nothing save cut wood” is in The Witch.

It’s the perfect insult for a man whose pile of firewood is part of his illusion of control. It grows as the film goes on. He builds a monument to his own failure. 🪓🪵🐐

I remember this summer! I had seen Batman Returns and lots of my friends had seen Boomerang even though it was R Rated! They were repeating lines from that movie for months! 😄

Burke from Aliens is the top movie bastard to me.

Paul Reiser was so good in this role that I never trusted any character he portrayed after this! 😄
