and now that i have this to compare my other devices to, it makes me realize how garbage smartphone OSes have become too. significantly worse than windows when it comes to shoving stupid "features" no one asked for or wanted onto your phone without permission. maybe i should downgrade to a dumbphone

smooth performance, no bloatware or useless ai crap (same thing) constantly trying to assert itself, no ads to scour away, no keys jangling in my face, just total *local* control over what's on my pc and what it does. after years i have a pc that i don't need to *force* to treat me like an adult

spent the weekend installing and setting up linux mint and aside from losing auto backups to proton drive i'm really very pleased so far. i'd done a lot to make windows tolerable to me, keeping ads and ai garbage out of my sight, but i'd forgotten using a pc could feel this *good*
