I've now been denied the 5,000 tax credit by the state of Colorado for my EV purchase, even though I qualify on all criteria. I expect this bait-and-switch from companies, but not from my state government. I made a decision based on this promise and it I was seemingly lied to. Come on Colorado!

A JRuby user upgrading an old app recently filed a bunch of bugs about poor perf versus CRuby. In almost every case, it was an optimization or logic change we never knew about, and once added JRuby is faster. If something isn't as fast in JRuby as in CRuby, it's a bug. Report it!

This is really cool, and right by me. I watched it being constructed these last few months. I look forward to spotting wildlife as I pass under it.

My Nest was trying to optimize my furnace by reducing the temperature to take advantage of cheaper energy rates (time of use). I have a fucking propane tank you nimwit! (I even configured Nest accordingly). Internet of dumb.

I've also been using AI to help understand the nuances of a real estate transaction and finding professionals. Again, it's a super useful tool for getting answers to common questions or computing things like costs. It also helps cut through the ad-ridden internet. But sometimes, it's just dumb.

I've been playing around with AI to help with interior and exterior design ideas. It's certainly a very useful and valuable tool. However, sometimes, it's dumber than a box of rocks. The slop of AI is a lot like brainstorming. Some ideas are amazing. But most are harebrained. Take it for what it is.

Based on my own experience, late night online shopping seems to have been replaced by late night exploring curiosities with ChatGPT. Apparantely, it's quite good at estimating building projects.

It's ironic that an HOA is formed to protect the value of a property, yet its very existence scares away buyers. HOAs in the US are an absolute mess. You spend 1M for a house, then have to pay these gate keepers extra to NOT be allowed to do things on your property. Completely absurd.

Every single time I got to a doctor for something, I pay for the services at the time of my visit, AND THEN I get a bill for additional charges. The medical system in the US is an absolute scam. No other business would be allowed to run this way!

I can't believe I actually have to tell someone that a new issue requires a description, not just a link somewhere else. If you're going to file an issue with an open source project, at least put in a half-assed attempt at a proper report. Don't expect the maintainer to work harder than you.

I really can't stand that browsers remember 404 pages in the autocomplete history. Why would I want to go back to a page that didn't lead anywhere? Come on.
