The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

the zohran rally tonight was really fascinating to witness. it wasn’t mindless cultishness as gets characterized by rwers. people were keenly present, engaged. not reflexive call & response, but like the stage continued on to them, part of it. it was both familiar and new. optimistic with gravitas.

So reinvigorating to listen to @mckenziewark.bsky.social in Zagreb tonight. Her work is all encompassing and hearing her speak about queer rave culture as the key art form of the 2020s was so inspirational.
