There are almost 200k CitiBike rides a day in NYC and I warrant 95% of these were without helmets, and the safety record of CitiBike is pretty darn good.

If you mandated every rider needed a helmet, you would kill off CitiBike overnight because carrying a helmet around is a PITA.

It is much more simple than that: surfeit free parking -> higher prices on the shelves. The ground lease must be paid somehow.

If you have to drive to obtain life-sustaining groceries at livable prices then your community has failed you. TJs should charge for parking so that prices don’t reflect your parking subsidy

Thank you for your leadership on SB 79—our most fire protected and defensible locations in California are near existing public transit corridors. Denser, smarter land use will make our state more resilient, in facing off with NIMBYs who don’t care for others’ fire risk exposure while using FAIR plan

MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you @governor.ca.gov for taking bold leadership in addressing the housing + climate crisis in our state! Signing SB 79 means more housing in our cities, less housing at the wildland-urban interface where victims of fires like Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Paradise suffered tremendously.

Updated this chart because it was missing an important option. You don't need to use an e-bike for all trips for it to save you a lot of money!

$0.70/100 miles is also a worst-case scenario. Your cost is likely much cheaper than this.

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.
