Intro: Hello! I’m a librarian and journalist who has also spent time with demographers, Wikipedia, and 18F. I care about hyperlocal information ecosystems, new models of information sharing, the South, digital archiving practices, hound dogs, and walking in the woods without headphones.

the following drone shot that NBC has for the downhill skiing feels like a paradigm shift in covering the sport. it really changes and lets people see just how fast they're going and how much these guys are just on the razor's edge of complete disaster at all time

I carry an emergency leash and some dog treats in my car’s glove compartment and have actually rescued three dogs running loose over the past 10 years. Comes in handy!
My dog ran away a few weeks ago and I got her back with the help of a guy who was walking by and two people who stopped their cars, one of whom had crackers for bait, the other a person who always carries an “emergency leash” for situations like this
