The National Standards for Counsellors and Psychotherapists has been released by the Australian Federal Government. I am interested to see how this will be implemented across the sector. I am hopeful it will improve the quality and safety of the profession.

The lengths to which conservatives and bigots will go to harm those who do not fit their narrow and ignorant view of the world is not surprising yet so disheartening. It would cost them nothing to leave others alone. 🌈🎓

The fact that society is more worried about upsetting privileged folk than protecting the most vulnerable and disadvantaged amongst us speaks volumes.

Women’s lives are worth more than men’s comfort.
Black lives are worth more than white comfort.
Queer lives are worth more than straight comfort.

I will not be surprised if it also is revealed that the initial concerns regarding the clinic in FNQ were unfounded. This entire situation was fabricated to justify a cruel and fascistic agenda.

The legality of Queensland’s ban on puberty blockers has been questioned after it was revealed the state govt undertook 21 minutes of internal consultation at the same time as a press conference announcing the decision. The nastiness and ignorance of the QLD LNP.

Some guys will convince themselves that they are brave enough to take on a wild animal or stop a violent crime yet won’t stand up to their peers who say misogynistic or transphobic things.

It’s easy to be brave in a hypothetical scenario. Try standing up to everyday hatred.

Spent the afternoon baking a family-style pie. Made from local, fresh ingredients and with a mixed filling of beef, pork, mushrooms and vegetables. Kitchen smells amazing.

So in 2007, an election that was viewed as a huge win for Labor, came with a 43.38% first preference vote for the party and resulted in 83 seats. Last night looks like it will return 85+ seats to Labor but their first preference is now around 35%. I wonder if Labor will reflect on this. #AusPol

Certainly seeing some takes this morning following #BinNight . Whatever helps you cope I guess.

Apparently the only necessary skill to be a political pundit is making statements with conviction, no need to demonstrate any insight or connection to evidence required.

Ali France just became the first person to unseat an opposition leader at an election. Despite Peter Dutton’s fear-mongering and culture wars that strategically and deliberately harm minorities, Australians didn’t buy it. And a woman with a disability showed him the door.

Tonight, Labor experienced a +1.7% swing nationally.

But the story is as much about Australians repudiation of the far right and shift towards the centre.

ONP/ TOP are -0.8%. Every right wing party went backwards.

The Indies are up +3.5% and the Greens +0.7%.

Can we now get some actual progressive and courageous policies that back up these nice-sounding sentiments?

Seriously though Labor, this isn’t the Australian people saying ‘well done Labor’ this is us saying ‘take your Trumpian bullshit and fuck off’.
Don’t lose sight of that.

How much has the Overton Window shifted if James Mcgrath thinks Schrinner and Dutton are “centre-right”?
