The kitten is insistent that I have not sufficiently bathed myself today and must be cleaned.

This isn't helping with my procrastinating.

Despite the fact I'm tired and want to go curl up and sleep, I seem to be getting somewhere with working out the main pieces of this horror novel plot.

It definitely does not feel like that though.

Back to the story mines today and I’ve finally started plotting out this next horror novel.

Sunday distraction. Put together this miniblocks orchid kit.

Cats helped and were very nice and only inspected the pieces instead of stealing any. Not going to dust it as it likes to disassemble itself at the slightest touch.

Found this in the garden and may have had a moment of WTF.

A double headed red rose.

I’m in the middle of story plotting, character and worldbuilding for my next novel and I’ve needed to map out a particular location so I know where everything is and how it intersects. And I’ve been avoiding it.

Now that I’ve finally started, gridding up pages in my sketchbook this happens.

This:
Stop. Supporting. Rowling. In. Any. Way.
A portion of every dollar spent on Harry Potter merchandise goes to anti-transgender campaigns.

Another short story edited and ready for a second opinion. It even has a title.

I have been extremely brave for a second time this week, despite my inordinate amount of panicking.

So, this horror MS I've been polishing is ready to send out and query. I've known I was close, but just realised it's ready and fuck. This is something I've been working towards for a while but it's still damn scary to put it out there to agents.
October 22, 2025 at 8:11 AM
Anyone else get absolutely paranoid right before they start querying agents that despite all the work they've done that their MS isn't good enough?
October 17, 2025 at 8:42 AM
I am trying very much to not make major or minor changes to this horror MS, focusing only on catching missed spelling/punctuation/grammar mistakes etc.
October 15, 2025 at 9:46 AM
10 chapters of this horror MS checked over. 15 to go.

Finding the bounce of a story absolutely helps if you don’t delete it out and realise what you’ve done afterwards.

Spent today re-editing what I edited yesterday.

Was it annoying? Yes.
Was it worth it? Also yes.

Question for short story writers:

How many times would you do a major rewrite on a short story to get it to work before deciding fuck it and moving on?

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

Just spotted a butterfly doing laps around my cat's head. Until she thwaped it and it flew off.

One short story edited and the ending rewritten despite a looming headache these last few days. Less violence, because stabbing people when you're pissed off is apparently not the correct response.

The problem with reading Kartabasis by R F Kuang, is that I now have a brilliant story idea roaming through my brain when I should be asleep.

So, this horror novel I'm going to query is finally at the point I can start to plot the story that's been roaming my brain all year. I've been looking forward to this.
