@anneontheshelf.bsky.social Justice noticed your location.. we’re over in the forest. How are you all coping with the devastation in the town?

I started work in ‘72 - infant teacher/ Early Years. The only time I came across this was when a mum ( Austrian) asked is she should do this. Appalled, I commented that it was a harmful, outdated practice.
My brother still talks about the nursery staff trying to force him to use his right hand. That kind of crap was definitely still going on in the mid seventies. I know that may be fifty years ago to some, but the memory is like yesterday to him.

The screening of Mrs Warren’s Profession we saw yesterday was great, with a strong cast and brilliant performances from Imelda Staunton and Bessie Carter. What a treat!

Just met a chap I taught when he was 4/5- he’s now 32 and was with his toddler. Amazingly, we remembered each other well.. and were so pleased to bump in to one another. Ben, you’ve made my week!

Went to lovely Arne today. This is a very long shot, but I had a bit of an episode. A lovely nurse was in the hide with us; she looked after me until the paramedics arrived. Enormous thanks to all, and to my brother- in- law and wife, who were marvellous, too. x
