Statisticians: We really need to move past the cult of p < 0.05. Science is about nuance, not just arbitrary thresholds!

Also Statisticians (reading a qualitative study): Wait, n=12? This isn't science, it’s an anecdote. Where is the power analysis??

Back in grad school we hosted a dinner party that had a dress theme of Judy Chicago’s the Dinner Party.
The 39 beautifully embroidered place settings in Judy Chicago's 1979 installation 'The Dinner Party' are symbolic of elevating women's talents, honouring women's history & to highlight women's collaboration as many embroiderers worked together to creative this aspect of the work #WomensArt

This year I want to learn to cook beyond “I put something in the air fryer”. I want to start from simple dishes beyond that. The Culinary Institute of America has a set of videos titled “Cooking Basics: What Everyone Should Know” and one of the earliest videos is “How to Poach an Octopus“ 😳

My dept has an open assistant professor position (DL 2nd Feb). Although the call indicates special interest in datacenter-scale computing systems research, any research area is applicable and this would be a great place also for someone doing Bayesian flavored research

A question for those who teach in #highered. What is your institution's late registration policy. We are on a 10 week instruction plus 1 week final schedule and students can register 2 weeks late. They try to catch up with 20% of instruction basically. Is this the norm or approximately?
