In Norse mythology, Loki's father was the little-known jötunn Fárbauti. Some scholars feel Fárbauti's name ("Cruel Striker") evokes lightning, suggesting he was a storm giant. An intriguing idea considering Loki's complicated relationship with the thunder god Thor.
